Quadratec Q-Series Winch and AEV Front Bumper

Has anyone installed the Quadratec Q-Series winch with an AEV Premium Front Bumper? I was told specifically by Quadratec that it would fit. However my mechanic is telling me he can't get it in there.

Anyone else have this problem?

It's a standard size, not sure why it wouldn't. Better question is why aren't you installing it? Go turn a wrench.

I am sure the Quadratec guy will chime in here but the winch is standard size and has a standard 4 bolt pattern. Is it just a tight fit? The winch plate goes on first then the winch is mounted to the winch plate and then the bumper fits over it. If you/they put the bumper completely on you/they will never get the winch in there.

The problem seems to be the cover that has the quad logo on it. Sounds like that it a 1/2 inch too bulky compared to something like the warm 9.5 cti.

The place doing the install in a dedicated Jeep mechanic (not a dealer). All they do are Jeeps.

He sent me a couple of pics to show the problem area. I can't quite make it out myself.

Ok I see. I looks like the winch is to fat width wise..... I have heard people shimming it with washers but I'm not sure. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Yep. I think I am just going to tell them to pull it out. If it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit. Hopefully, Quadratec will make a return easy since I was told it would fit. That's what I get for being cheap and not getting the WARN.

Unless there is some trick I am missing.

Check the bumper install instructions. My ARB bumper included a note that for winches longer than x cm's (can't remember the #, but my quadratec 8500 was longer) the frame rail needed a notch cut out of the front flat area to allow winch clearance. Only took a minute to remove with a cutting wheel.

Thanks for the suggestion. I asked the installer about cutting the bumper to make it fit. He told me that he didn't think he could smooth it enough to make it look good and he didn't want to risk doing a job that I might not be happy with. While a little disappointing, I can sure appreciate him being honest with me because I would hate to have my AEV bumper damaged.

He's doing a bunch of other install work for me right now. Once he's done, I may consider checking with a couple of other shops in the area about that and double checking with Quadratec.

It is definitely a tight fit, we had it installed on the Brute Double Cab for one of our catalog covers.
