Quality of OEM spare tire cover?

For those of you that have the OEM spare tire cover - any good? Or...do you have a suggestion for a better one?

Thanks

Well... looks like this question didn't go anywhere? I like a cover so I guess I get the OEM one.

There are tons of places that u can get tire covers with a large selection of what goes on it. U don't have to be limited by OEM.

I go back and forth with the OEM cover on and off. I have stock wheels and tires now, so nothing to "show off." I painted out the dealer's flashy ad on the stock cover with vinyl paint because I just didn't want to be a rolling ad! The cover itself seem to be of very good quality.

I bought "Fun is standard, Pavement is optional" from the dealer. It's been 3 months of a mild Michigan winter, but so far so good.

I drive a lot of dirt roads. The naked spare, the tire carrier and the whole area get very dirty. All those intricate surfaces are just plain hard to clean. The whole area stays much cleaner now that I have put the cover back on. Purely functional for me....

thats why i love this place! little kernels of knowledge dropped on the reg.. personally realized this a couple days ago as i gave my '12 jks her first bath. lots of salt/brine has been unloaded on the roads this winter, but no actual accumulation

So what you're saying is, you need a rubber for your rubber?

I'm with Bill on the keeping it clean.... don't need added road slush/salt mixture in all the nooks and crannies.... PLUS - in the city, or even my neighborhood the other half the year when I'm out on the coast ... I'm not sticking a wheel with a nice tire in someone's face. Of course they can see 'em on the jeep, but hanging off the back is a bit more inviting for possible theft. Not too concerned with the sun damage, as I rotate the spare in every 3K...

Heh Heh, I generally wash my JKUR twice a year and the trailer's lucky if she gets washed at all-

I don't worry about dust/dirt/snow/sun-

I just use a sparetire cover cause it's funny, if some people don't think it's funny, this is AMERICA---you better laugh anyway, I know what you did last summer !

Hmm ads on the spare cover? Mine just says "jeep" and that's it. Seems pretty good quality, but doesn't fit on mine since day one as I am running 33's

Up Hill Bill is right about the cover keeping things much easier to clean back there. I wanted a hard cover in straight black in keeping with the overall debadged Black Jeep look. I got mine for about $135 delivered from:

http://sparetirecovers.com/

They can do any color / logo you want. The quality is fantastic.

nope, thats nothing like my cover that came with my Jeep. Its a canvas type black cover. It matches the interior... either way, i understand what you mean by not wanting to run with the advertisement on the back though.

I just had this crazy idea born from walking into my wife's closet filled with mostly every style and color of footwear imaginable. You know, like a couple of pairs for each outfit of the day.

So why not have a garage full of spare tire covers, each with its own unique motif. Then the cover can be switched out at will depending on mood and attitude. Zippered of course, to make quick changes easy in case the decision for the day requires multiple try on's.

Another wall could hold racks of static cling decals to completely change vehicle color, or whatever message seems appropriate at the moment.

Hmmmmm...maybe I am closer to being crazy than I thought.

yeah, that would qualify as crazy. You could tell your wife, "You have a shoe fettish, this is mine." Of course, nobody would be able to recognize your Jeep if you changed decals and spare tire covers every day! You may occasionally lose your Jeep in a parking lot if you don't remember what decals you put on that day.

Na. I'm at just 2000 ft. in the coastal foothills. Top of this hill is 2700 ft. But, to many of our eastern Jeep brothers, I guess that would be up the mountain...

Edit: And, even though I'm in Humboldt, I don't grow dope, believe it or not....
