Question about another battery!

Hey all,

I'm a fairly new Jeep owner and have been buying all kinds of awesome things for my jeep; 6 Hella black magic lights, light bar, and also in transit are my new ACE rock sliders.. and 4 more black magic lights to come when i buy my new replacement bumper .

I'm assuming with all the light's i've added and are adding, im going to need an alternate power source so i'm not killing my Batt.

Looking for some recommendations, thanks in advance!

thats a lot of light, why do you want 10 lights, you only need 4, 2 penile beams and 2 flood,,, but anyways ,,, with that much lighting i would run duel batteries and look into upgrading my alternator.

Here's a thread from CG3, a member who recently added an extra battery to her rig. Not easy to do, and expensive...like all things Jeep.

You might need 5 batteries, lol. That's a lotta light, and can't use it on-road unless you wanna set oncoming traffic on fire.

Dual Battery Install

Also might consider an sPOD, to keep your engine bay from looking like a bowl of spaghetti. Not only will it manage all your electrical needs, but it's a simple plug n play, once installed. All +/– goes through the sPOD, bypassing the Jeep Canbus system. Plus, you can get a low voltage cut-off switch with it, so if you accidentally leave your 55 lights on, the sPOD will shut em off before your battery runs dry.

Anyway, here are a few links:

Dual Battery Install
Lmao, i'm cracking up at your posts. I'm putting the lights on mainly for those pesky high speed lane riders who wont move (you know who you are massholes) lol in all seriousness i plan on lots of night time off roading, and i like the look of the jeep in the link in my first post.

Thanks for the info

Getting back to topic...I was looking at a battery upgrade/dual set-up and found this on a like forum

Project-JK.com - Jeep JK Wrangler Resource » DieHard Platinum Battery for a 2012-Up Jeep JK Wrangler

Evidently Chrysler decided to change battery types on the 2012 Jeeps. The 2011 and prior can use the D34 or 34/78 type which there are alot of but now the only option (for a direct swap) is maybe only this Diehard Platinum Group 35. I checked based on pics and the terminals are reversed so now Negative is front and Positive towards the back. I spose a jumper could be made up and cross them over but Optimas closest option doesn't have the same power as the 34 series many did a swap to.
I guess too with all the wiring around a dual set-up could be done but also maybe not quite as easy as before. Anybody else see this?

Don't just go by the pic's, a lot of times it's a generic picture. Look for a spec sheet or talk to the retailer to be sure.

I think most battery series can be found in two version. Positive left, positive right. I'm not 100% sure, I've been wrong before.

Mentioned this to the shop I recently visited and the guy said you look for an M34R.
