Question about usb memory audio function

So I loaded my music onto a thumb drive and plugged it in the slot. Is there a way to browse by artist or anything? When I play it, it puts all the songs in alphabetical order by song title (which is not how i have it saved on the drive), and won't let me search for artist or anything. It just plays straight through the songs in alphabetical order. My last car brought it up exactly how I had it saved on the drive - each artist had its own folder; select the artist, select the cd, select the song.

Read the manual. I don't remember which buttons to push without going out and looking at the stereo...but there is one button for browsing by album title, and one button for browsing by artist name. It's in the manual. By the way, this is for the 130. You did not state which head unit you have.

I hate manuals and instructions

It is the 130

I have the same problem, and I looked all through the manual and didn't find anything. Anyone here figure it out?

As problems go, it's a little one, but some of my USBs contain several CDs of the same group (different studio, live versions, etc), so when the stereo puts them in alphabetical song order, I end up with 4 versions of the same song playing one after another.

Thanks guys

Your best option is to use Playlists to manage your music, else as you've found it dumps it in a big heap. You can use the 1-2-3 buttons, once the music has fully been digested which takes a few minutes. If your music has genres then you can sort by that, the List and Music Type buttons both are what I use when playing music off my USB.

Getting your music to playlists can be a challenge; if you're using iTunes either Mac or Win there are two options I've found.

I use an app called DoubleTwist - https://www.doubletwist.com/
Another member also showed me Playlist Export - Eric Daugherty - Playlist Export - for iTunes, it's is a Mac app but he links to a Windows version too
