Question for soft top owners

I just bought an 08 4 door sahara a month ago from a well known dealership and I just noticed the front of the soft top in the middle of the windshield is bowed up a bit. I took it to another well known dealership by my house and they said it was bent. So when I called the dealership I got it from they said to bring it to them so they could take a look at it. I took it up to them and the next day they called and said that it was good to go and everything was the way it is supposed to be. When I went to pick it up I noticed that it wasn't even touched, but the service was closed so I went and talked to the sales manager. The manager told me he would call me the next day after he talked to the service manager about the part. He told me that if it didn't cost that much he would fix it for free, but if it cost to much he couldn't do anything about it. I just got a call from the service manager and he said thats the way it is supposed to be, but there is a metal replacement that could help make the front of the top more flush. So I ask all the soft top owners out there does your soft top bow up in the middle at the windshield?

I'd go up there and say you talked with a few JK owners with softies and we confirmed your paranoia. I'd call the dealer out on this that they knowingly sold you a bent soft top and claimed it was normal.

It's not. They know it. Why would that be bowed? What purpose would that serve? The windshield frame is flat, so the piece of the top that connects should also be. There's nothing there suggesting it needs a bowed design.

If the give static after you call them out, say "let's take a walk" show the the 11's how nice and flush they are. I'm positive they'll have an 07-10 around, show them that one. Even TJ's if there's any. All will be flush and straight.

There is a TSB on the headers for '07 to '08 (maybe '09 too). The plastic part of the header will warp or bow needing replacement with the metal part. It's not a recall so if you are out of warranty you are stuck with the bill. If you get the part from the dealer it is around $250 but I've heard of people finding it for as little as $150 on the net. Mine finally bowed this year. I noticed it when I put the top back on the the warmer weather. I also noticed it was A LOT louder. I haven't done there repair yet, but I've been told it's not that hard to do.

If you're under warranty tell the stealership to ***k it, they're supposed to sit flush, and its sad they don't know how their own products function.

Exactly what those two said, I replaced my plastic header with a metal one and it's flush and perfectly quiet even on the highway
