questions about buying a used soft top

I am looking at buying a used soft top. I have a 2012 wrangler 2 door. I want to make sure though that all the hardware is there. Can anyone give me a complete list of what should be included?

Also will other years fit my jeep? Say 07?

I have done this list once before.
Soft top, with all bows, ends, and header.
Screws that go through the bow ends.
Brackets that mount to sport bar, with screws.
Door surrounds, with the attachment screws.
Side windows.
Rear window, with retainer bar and bar brackets.
Parts are best kept in model years.

And yes, all year softops will go on all year JKs. As long as you go with all the MY hardware. There is a problem with the header on softtops from earlier years going on newer years. The footman loop was moved in 2010. Either a replacement header is needed or the older one needs to be trimmed to fit.

Actually the footman loop moved in 2009.

You might end up having to get a new header either way if the used top still has the old plastic header. I did.

Can't the loop be moved ? I thought there was a modification you can do.

When buying a top that's used. Some folks forget to remove the bracket on each roll bar leaving attached to the jeep. Also the 2 plastic clips that hold the rear tailgate bar in place. It's not that big of a deal for all these parts can be bought pretty inexpensively. .

soft top

Make sure you get the two brackets that are attached to roll bar. That is how top is held onto jeepName: bracket.jpg
