Questions regarding Soft Tops on a Sahara?

Does anyone know if the soft tops that come on a 2008 Sahara are the premium soft tops, or just the regular ones? And how can you tell the difference between the premium & basic soft tops? Also, will it have the sunrider feature? And will a 2008 soft top fit a 2013 Sport? Thanks

The premium soft tops were not around in 08. So if it has one it's the regular one. The premium tops are more of a twill and heavier type as opposed to the regular ones. An '08 should also have the sunrider feature. The tops will interchange if all the components are available. The door surrounds, windows, and window bar are different between the two.

Thanks for replying, Bob. I don't currently have a factory soft top, only a hard top, so would this still work with a '13? I should also add that it's the complete top with the frame, door surrounds & windows. I also have a Bestop Trektop NX, but was looking for a factory soft top as a back-up.

As long as the top has the surrounds it will fit on your Jeep.

Keep in mind early model soft tops either did not have the sunrider feature, or had a different version of the sunrider (no cables?)...but I can't remember for sure.

Yup. Before 2010 there were no cables. It had door sill clips that had to be rolled into the door sill retainer. Only the very basic tops didnt have sunrider features and its fairly easy to tell

The older versions would still fit any year as long as all the hardware is there

Okay, thanks for all the help. Now I have some more questions....found a different one off of a 2011 (not sure what model, though). They said it came with both the soft top & hard top, so would that be a premium one then? And I assume it would have the newer sunrider feature, too? Also, I currently have a Bestop Trektop NX (along with a hard top that I'm seriously thinking about selling)....how does the Mopar soft tops (either premium or regular) compare to the Trektop? I'll still keep my Trektop, but thinking maybe the Mopar soft top would be better in winter....yes? No?

I think the premium soft top only came out with the 2013 model. Maybe a few late model 2012 had it, but pretty sure it was only with 2013. 2011 would have the sunrider feature. Myself, I would run the hard top in winter because of the rear lift gate. I'm thinking that the rear window zippers would be a test of patients in the freezing cold and Ice, and scrapping those soft plastic windows with an ice scrapper will ruin them for sure.
