Hello, need a suggestion, not that's it's a big deal or anything, I was recently re-attaching my doors on my JK, when I accidentally hit the lower plastic side piece near the passenger side speaker, causing it to have a slight detachment, I was hoping that it would snap back into place, but turns out it didn't. Any suggestions for a quick fix? See photos
try pulling the whole piece off (it just snaps off with 4-5 clips) and see if you broke the inner clip you may just need to glue the spot it snaps into back together.
it might not be "broken".....but it might be stripped. Either the slot that tab goes into might have opened up a bit....or the tab itself may have an issue.....and you really cant fix that without buying a new part. If anyone knows how to correct that...I would love to hear it...
I keep telling myself it wont matter in the long run.....since I have been eyeballing the poison spyder cage hit for awhile...and the kit replaces that plastic with a steel part...
I'm trying not to make worse then it already is, before dislodging the plastic piece, if there's a youtube video of this demonstration anyone could post in a link before I get too creative and just go forth with the action, I would greatly appreciate it. I also greatly appreciate the advice you all have given, as always.
It just pops out via a series of clips along the front and the top. The whole thing is sturdier than people are making it out to be - I pull mine off all the time when I'm running wires from the engine compartment to the cab. There's a really convenient access hole through the firewall hidden by that panel.
You won't make it worse. Just pop it off and reinstall. That plastic is very flexible.....including the tabs. Given where you hit it you just popped the bottom fastener out.
