Im in the middle of install. The new headlight housings don't have the 4 screw brackets to fasten to the vehicle, and instead have 3 clip like things. How do I get them to fasten? I have all the wiring run, and both lights work. Just can't seem to put the lamps on. Help please!!

Never mind. I just had to take the outer ring off of the old headlamps. They are in, and are amazing!!!

I think I now know why I dont hear as many complaints about the stock headlights down here. Obviously ours are a different light being RHD, but looking closely at the pics in the first post I believe that is our stock headlight!

That said though, we still run through the stock harness - does upgrading to direct cable to the battery via relays cause any issues with the computer thinking the globe is blown?

There's no bulb-out warning; it just gives the bulbs more juice.
Mind your diodes and capacitors if you build your own though.

Anyone actually have any luck in contacting DS for Ciebes? I've tried two emails, no reply. No number on his site.

Sweet - might give that a try and see if I can see any difference.

he emailed me on the 11th...I'm sure he will get back to you. The Cibies are worth every penny in my opinion. I'm now putting together some Cibie driving lights, just waiting for the bulbs.

44Blues what are you using for buckets?

The Grote buckets recommended by Stern.... silver....I'll probably paint them deep water blue to blend in with the rest of my JK.

I was going to use them for another project of mine, had this site recommended to me, they have a ton of buckets...
Headlights - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop

The most important thing to look at is, how do the wires enter the bucket? I had a real challenge getting 14g wire into my buckets....FYI

I was doing some lighting upgrade research, in preparation of sending a long-winded PM to Hilldweller to ask some questions. My search of the forums took me to this thread and it looks like exactly what I want to do.

I'm not seeing the JK upgrade link on RallyLights site. Is this what I'm looking for:
Susquehanna MotorSports - Auto Performance Product

Yes it is, for the Hellas. I may end up going that route if I get no reply from DS.

Thanks!

One more question....I don't see Phillips extreme +80s as a bulb option, but I do see Phillips Extreme Power. Are these the same thing?

Great, thanks!

Sad part is that I just got my winch installed yesterday. Now I'll have to remove it in order to pop the grill off. Ugh. LOL

It may not be necessary to remove the winch as long as you have enough room to pop the bottom of the grill back an inch so that you can tilt it.

I MAY be able to but doubt it. It's mounted to the stock bumper so it's pretty close to the grill. Guess we'll find out.

It's hard to get a hold of Dan sometimes. I hope he's okay but sometimes he just disappears for a while.

If you want Cibies and can't get him, you can order them here and then get a harness from Ray at Rallylights.

Thanks Bill, more great advice, as usual.
I saw you mentioned that in another post, and was on it. I'll give it a few days then go that route.

krutj, Hilldweller...thanks for the resources! I've been trying to track down a pair of Grote/Truck Lite/Singal Stat or equivalent buckets for a while now. Also a good backup resource for some Cibie lights.

I chatted with Dan yesterday to finalize my Cibie headlight, harness and OscarPlus+ aux light order. However, before that I didn't hear back from him in over a week. I've been working with him the last 2.5 weeks or so to finalize the order. It's been a good experience so far and would recommend him. After speaking to some folks who got the Cibies and listening to Hilldweller, it should be worth the wait.

Yes, it'll be worth the wait. The Cibies have a much more refined light spread, great for night vision. Glad that you are getting quality lighting..

I just spoke w/ Ray at RallyLights (thank Hilldweller). Really nice guy.

I wanted the ability to run extra lights along w/ my new headlights (when applicable) but wanted them powered off of the headlight harness.

Ray is going to build 2 tap-off points onto my new harness to allow for lighting expansions that I can enable either off the low or high beam wires. Or both if needed.

FYI, Ray builds the harnesses and all of these orders have him a bit behind. He stated he's propably about 2 weeks behind on getting orders shipped right now.

I actually picked my kit up in person. All the guys there are super nice! Even offered me a tour! After a weekend of driving with the new harness/lamps/phillips +80s, I can say there is a HUGE difference! I can't believe that they wouldn't do something similar from the factory.

Nice! I've had to travel to Harrisburg a few times on business, but sadly I'm not going that way any time soon. Otherwise I'd swing by their offices and say hello.

Maybe next time.

I live in Lancaster, PA, which was only about an hour drive. I wanted to get my Jeep some extended driving time anyway, so this seemed like a good idea.

If I just want lamps (no bulbs, wiring, etc.....yet), will the Hella HL79562 7" Round H4 E-Code Headlamps at Susquehanna work?
