Rampage Front Bumper

I've been looking at front bumpers and I know I want a full bumper versus a stubby bumper. Anyone have any experience with the Rampage recovery textured bumper like this one Rampage Products 86510 - Rampage Products Front Recovery Bumper for 07-14 Jeep¬ģ Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec?

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Yeah, I saw one thread where a guy couldn't get it mounted to his jeep. I'm not sure it was the bumper's fault as to why he couldn't install it.

I guess I'm looking for the one's who have had one installed for awhile and didn't just install it and then wrote a review about how it's such a great bumper.

That does look really good. Did you paint your grill or is it plastidipped?

I have had mine on for a year now, I haven't had any issues with it at all. It is a well manufactured front bumper. The rear bumper I have to match is giving me problems as it has started to rust in a few places and I am trying to get that resolved from the manufacturer however I am prolly just gonna sand blast it and bedline it. I have absolutely no complaints about the front bumper at all and recommend it.

I went ahead and bedlined the grill. I had absolutely no intentions on ever wanting the grill to go back to the color it was and wanted something permanent.

No offense to the guy that posted that thread but the install was straight forward and very simple. The bumper is cumbersome so you either need two people or a jack to install. See Page one of the post Digger mentioned for a good idea for your old plastic piece.
I've been hit with the Rampage and recently relocated a small boulder with it- in both cases the only damage was minor scratching. Rock freakin' solid- pun intended.
Long video- watch from about 2:50 on.

Love the look of mine. Install wasn't hard but not easy by yourself. Get a six pack and a buddy! Should go quick.

Looks like it lines up good with your fenders. How do you like the hood decal?

My wife helped me mount the bumper. It bolted right up. Just heavy and awkward by yourself . I drilled holes in the two smaller tubes on each side of the main hoop and ran the wires inside for the center lights.

Nice jeep. I was wondering how long it would take you to "remember" you had one. I don't know how long you've had it installed but would you buy it again?

I think you'll find that's the overall consensus if you read that Rampage thread. Just keep in mind if you ever replace fenders you are limited to full width designs. I will probably swap mine out for this reason- and need a stubby as evidenced by the video.
(Jaker- Steve at Roughneck might chop it down for me....but by the time I pay him and re-powder coat I'll probably buy new).

Don't powder coat it , mine is all bedlined now because of the work and it has held up great

Strip all the way down and bedlined it

Then worked on again and bedlined

I've never thought about changing the fenders out. What is the benefit to changing them?

Strength. Metal vs. plastic. Same reason as a bumper- body protection. Metal Cloak and Poison Spyder make some good ones- but they assume you have a stubby bumper (rock crawling) so they're narrow.
Or looks- getting rid of stock plastic. If your Jeep is a DD Body Armor and Ace make wide width replacements for stock. But they'll only protect you from shopping carts or Prius's. (I kid....)

Well that's just great. Now I'm not sure which way to go lol. Back to the drawing board. One thing I do like for sure is the stinger style bar.

You are not necessarily restricted when you get the full width Rampage bumper. You gave 2 options in my opinion.
1. When I decided to get flat fenders, I went with the wide ones from Ace, IMO they fit well.
2. I have a friend that has the bumper and when he went with narrow fenders he just chopped the ends off the bumper. After my accident, I had the body shop cut down my bumper to a stubby as well as they replaced the bumper entirely. So now I have a stubby bumper in my garage I’m trying to decide if I want to put on or not.

Can you take a pic of the chopped bumper? I realize it won't be on the Jeep- just want to see it stubbi-fied. If you're feeling generous... maybe a measurement of the new length of the bumper chopped? Trying to line up the new edges with where my Metal Cloak fenders would sit. This is my plan...

Thinking about trying to mount one of these with a 21.5 light bar. Anyone tried? Looks at the directions to install. Looks like the jeep pictured has a RFRB.

I like super-cheesy. I pay extra for that.
I'd like to see the pic but no worries on the measurement. I want to keep the second bull bar so mine would be a bit different than yours. More battering ram better.....
