M10-1.25 x 25mm J.I.S. Small Head Hex Flange Bolts

I'm having a hard time with sizes. Also, what grade should they be? These claim to be 10.9, but I don't know if these are the same "grade" as my grade 8 control arm bolts.

Also, I'm having a tough time understanding the mounting...I don't have my winch yet, but it seems that the plate gets bolted to the bumper, then the winch gets bolted to the plate. The plate sits flush with the bumper though, so I am having a hard time making sense of it. Any of you guys that have mounted a winch to this thing have any thoughts? Does the winch use the pre-drilled threaded holes in the bumper?
Check back in this thread a bit. I was having the same problem. The bolts are M10s. I believe I used 1.5 inch long ones. I didn't buy flanged bolts but you probably could use them. But for the love of Jeep, don't buy from that site. $8.20 for a single bolt!? Please. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get all four for like, $4.

Now as far as the winch plate goes, you have to mount the winch to the plate before putting it on the bumper. The winch should come with mounting hardware. The bolts will stick out of the bottom of the plate a bit. Then place the plate+winch onto the bumper and bolt it down. The plate will rest on the bolts that attach the winch to the plate. I don't necessarily like it that way, but hey, they designed it like that for a reason I suppose. Definitely holds the winch bolts in place and prevents them from coming loose.

Edit: Just saw the "10 per package" on your link. I'd still go with the Lowes/Home Depot option unless you need the extras. Save you a couple bucks.

If I understand you right Proxy your winch plate does not sit flush to the bumper? Or do you mean the bolts stick out on the top of the plate? The winch mounting holes in the winch plate are already countersunk, so it is set-up for countersunk bolts. Countersunk bolts will fit flush and the plate will rest right on the bumper. You can see it in the pic I posted earlier.
One note- not every winch bolts in the same configuration/spacing. When you order your winch check the bolt spacing against any winch plate you plan to buy. I think most are the same- but we had to re-drill the plate for our wee compact winch. Not easy on a plate that thick.

I used the bolts that came with the winch, which are not countersunk, so you're right, my winch plate doesn't sit flush to the bumper. It rests on top of the bolts that hold the winch to the plate. I took a quick pass at the bolts in Lowes and Home Depot and couldn't find any countersunk bolts so I went ahead and used the ones the winch came with.

Gotcha. We're spoiled to have an industrial hardware store right down the street-they're cheaper too.

Lucky, ha. I do plan on getting the right ones eventually. End almost definitely before I use it too much or go heavy wheeling. I don't think the bumper can put up with that much weight on those four pressure points. I don't want it to bend or get dented to badly.

How is everyone attaching their license plate to the bumper?

There are no predrilled holes. I could drill them but the plates width would cover the edge of the fog lights.

I like the look without the front plate but in NY the law says you have to have a front plate.

Are the winch mounting holes and the threaded holes in the bumper not the same pattern? It seems that the winch and plate bolt to the same holes.

They are the same. However the issue is the bolts- getting the right size and getting them countersunk. Rampage has a habit of forgetting the bolts- I've gently reminded them its an issue. As Proxy said he used what came with his winch but they weren't countersunk.
My problem was that my winch is compact- so it did not mount to the pre-drilled holes on the plate. We had to re-drill them. Nothing improper on Rampage's part- not every winch uses the same configuration/bolt hole spacing.

The plate itself doesn't have any threaded holes. The bolts simply pass through the plate. Unless you have a monster winch, the outer 4 holes on the plate will mount to the bumper and the inner 4 holes will be used to secure the winch to the plate.

Photo of my front plate mounted on a Rampage Recovery bumper. Because of the fog light mounts, I could only mount it using the top two holes in the bracket. I drilled two 15/64" holes in the steel, then applied 2 coats of Rustoleum Rust Reformer, and 3 coats of Rustoleum protective enamel.

Instead of using self-tappers – which can fall out and trash my perfectly good tires – I used 1/4" ss machined screws with nylok nuts, and some silicon to buffer any contact points btw the screws and the bumper.

My license plate frame has an impact-resistant cover on it, and I used zip-ties to lock the lower screw holes together (they hang below the bumper itself).

Long story short, the front plate's not gonna come loose.

Gotcha. Makes sense, but the post above yours (jeephertz) seems to contradict you. -Scratching head.

I don't have to run a front plate here in AZ. But I run a custom plate using two mag lite flashlight mounts then drill the plate and attach it to the mag lite mounts which snap right onto the roller fairleads. You might want to put a small chain on and screw it into the bumper so that no one can walk off with your plate.

I hope this gives you an idea of what i am talking about. Not mine but close.

That is an awesome solution. Clean and simple. Might use this if i want to run a custom plate some time. Nicely done!

Kbwwolf and unclesam, Thank you for the ideas.

I received the bumper and installed it today along with the front axle piece of the Teraflex Leveling kit.

Please elaborate on the "front axle piece from teraflex." Did you find a skid plate that works with the bumper? Did you have to cut anything to make it fit or did it bolt right up?

Not me. And Rampage can't recommend one either. My Body Armor front skid will have to be cut down to fit.

Do you have Amazon Prime? For those that don't know- Prime gives you free two day shipping with most of their vendors. Its a $79 yearly fee- but you can cancel after your "free trial". When you buy something heavy its a great way to go. I know someone who ordered tires and had them shipped forfree. I didn't have any problems cancelling it after I used it either.

Yes I have Amazon Prime but this wasn't eligible for it. Came pretty quick though.

Can someone please provide details on how much length this bumper adds to jeep? I have a JKUR on order and might have to add this (and the rear) sooner than later.
