Recently I did the ol' stuff-yer-Sound Bar-and-front-speaker-boxes-with-Polyfill trick and it helped the sound immensely! :bop: It really brought my aftermarket Pioneers to life! Unfortunately, there is so much bass now, that it's rattling the hell outta my dome light and is extremely annoying! :rant:What did you do to mitigate this? I've thought about running a very small bead of silicone, or even wrapping the d@mn thing with Saran-Wrap just to get it to quit, lol! I'm getting frustrated! ullinghair: Thanks for the tips!
I just fixed my rattle last month. Here is what you do. Pull the plastic lens off the light. It pretty much pulls right off with a little tug. That will expose two screws. remove the screws and gently let the light hang a bit from the sound bar. Take a small hand full of polyfil and stuff the polyfill between the sound bar and light fixture. Screw the fixture back into place, reinstall the plastic lens cover, Grab disc #3 of Led Zeppelin "Mothership", play song #13 "The Ocean", and enjoy your new sound! Of course, that last step is optional.
Thanks, but I already tried that. It's pretty much stuffed to the gills up in there. I believe it's actually the lens rattling against the fixture. When I looked at it, there is a rubber grommet surrounding the base of the light where it contacts the sound bar, however there is nothing on the lens itself. If I touch the lens lightly, the rattling stops. Good taste in music :thumb: BTW, "The Ocean" is originally from the album "Houses of the Holy" (which I do own :thumb released the year I was born, 1973. Wow, I feel old now...:bop:
Did you stuff the polyfill behind the speaker in the sound bar or did you remove the light and put polyfill behind the light fixture? That is what stopped my rattle. BTW you could play anything Houses of the Holy as a trial. Great album. But born in 73 is not old! I remember when that album was first released! Now that is old!
Both. Polyfill stuffed tightly into the soundbar and behind the light itself. I packed it in there so tightly, that I had to push on the light firmly in order to get the screw back in. I grabbed HotH and threw it into the CD player for my drive tonight. Great to revisit an old classic. Thanks for the suggestion!
I finally got the rattle to stop! :bop:Took off the dome light yet again, and I stuffed a cut-up pair of old underwear up there between the light and the Polyfill (my polyfill got destroyed due to my basement flooding). Unfortunately, now I smell something funny every time my dome light comes on...:mooning: Just kidding, but boy am I glad that rattle is gone! It was driving me crazy!
:iamhappy:
I know it's not on for long but I'd be afraid of the dome light causing enough heat to react with the poly. Maybe I'm being paranoid?
