Being my 1st post I will not be negative even thou I was really disappointed with the salesperson who sold me the Rubicon, so based on that I will say that he just basically handed me the keys and that was it.
I have tons of questions being not only that this is my 1st Jeep but my 1st non Honda. I will start in saying that I bought for my wife an ' 07 Rubicon, 6 SP with the hard/ soft tops, so here are my questions that I hope are not silly for those who choose to answer.
1) Does the "torque wrench" mentioned in the manual to remove the roof and other parts of the Jeep included or do I need to buy it a the local HD.
2) Does anyone know if the wheel locks for the "expensive tires" that the finance guy wanted me to buy the EXTRA protection insurance are the same ones that would fit earlier models?.
3) Do I need to remove the soft top that is now under the hard top or can it wait until Spring.
4) Do I need to buy an extra set of wheel locks since the set only has 4 wheel locks and the Ruby has the spare mounted on an additional lug ?
5) Does the cable connector for the I 'Pod/ MP3 player come with the vehicle and is somewhere that so far I haven't found or is something a local Radio Shack store can help me.
6) Do you have a favorite online site that you buy your accessories at a substantial savings?.
As you see these are the same questions I asked the salesperson and his response, let me read the owner's manual which I responded, nah I'll do it.
One more before I forget it is ..is there a bracket for the front plate that I can buy instead of drilling self tapping screws into it to hold the front plate…..

Thanks for reading….

I can't answer those either and I do not have an 07, but I can tell you that ready articles and reviews on the vehicles has upped my knowledge of them and I don't know if this will piss anyone off here but there is another forum JK specific full of info and probably lots of answers to your questions its JK-Forum.com.

I got an 06 and it still came with a video tape, I had to find an old VCR to watch it. Maybe the JK s have a Blue Ray DVD now?

I remember from the tape that you should take the soft top out if you have the combo Hard/soft. its not secured in all the way and may get scratches in the clear plastic by leaving it rolled up the way it comes.

As for a Tourque wrench I don't think you'll be needing one of those, hand tight should be fine, I don't drive around with my tools but I've got everything I need to do pretty much anything to my TJ.

Good luck and happy Jeeping and if you see me coming I'll be waving.

I don't know much about 07's but when I bought mine at the stealership we had to steal (or borrow) the torque wrench from another Jeep because mine was missing. I also had the soft top under the hard top for one entire winter and then got rid of the hard top all together. For accessories here's a place to start:
https://www.quadratec.com/Showcases/2007_jeep_wrangler_accessories/default.php
Also, if you stop by an autoparts store you can get a new set of 5 wheel locks. Just tell the guys what you drive and they'll direct you to the correct sized set. I am not sure they sell single ones.
Congratulations on your buy!

The torx bit supplied will not work on all the bolts you need and is not that good a piece. Mine stripped out and had to be replaced. You can get a torx set at any hardware store and will take care of most the bolts on your jeep. The manufactor states to remove the soft top immediately if not using right away. They are both installed for shipping only and you are to use one or the other. The cord for your IPOD can be found at any electronics store including radio shack. The locks are the same for all year models 1/2 thread as long as you are using the same wheel type for the seating of the lug nut. If you pruchaced the locks new you will have a form and number you can call and order a replacement to match the other 4. I have the Gorrilla Lock set that replaces all 20 and ordered 3 more for my spare. Type in Wrangler or Jeep in you r search engine for parts stores. There are lots and I go with the best price. (Dont forget e-bay!! lots of bargains there) I have an 07 4dr and 05 2dr. Love both.

1. Buy a set of torx bits that are hardend steel.

2. Hopefully, every lock nut,(key) is different.

3. Wait till spring, when it is warmer.

4. Use one of the ones on the ground to lock your spare. Ours only has one on the spare.

5. Our 04, did not come with those mall crawler outlets.

6. Quadratec.com is a good source for Jeep parts, and a lot of others are out there. Just do a search for Jeep parts, and watch the big list that will grow.

7. You should already have holes in your bumper for your liscence plate, all you should have to buy is the nylon nuts to plug into the bumper. Found at any Auto/parts store.

3) Do I need to remove the soft top that is now under the hard top or can it wait until Spring.
You wouldn't want to wait. According to the documentation, leaving the soft top that is inside, but not really installed on the dual top kit can cause damage to the soft top - which will not be covered by warranty. We removed ours the evening we brought the JK home. Took about 30-45 minutes start to finish, including reading the manual, but not including the trip out to get a T40 Torx adaptor for my ratchet. Not a big deal at all.
