Recently purchased and installed the RealWheels 2.5 inch pre-runner bar on my stock bumper. Here’s the product on RealWheels’ site - other vendors like Quadratec sell it as well.
2.5″ Pre-Runner Bar | Jeep Wrangler JK Accessories

I’m really happy with it, but all the pictures on vendor web sites suck - they make it look just like a cheap light bar. I’ve decided to correct this problem by posting some pics of my install:

There’s a set of tabs for mounting lights to. Nowhere to run the wires, but not sure i’m actually going to mount lights.

It’s a prerunner bar which goes forward away from the grill instead of a bull bar which is straight up or slopes back towards the grill of the Jeep.

The product comes in both unfinished stainless steel and black-painted stainless steel, in 1-5/8” and 2.5” sizes. I chose the black-painted 2.5” size though I assume both sizes use similar brackets.

Packaging was good. I found the instructions a bit confusing at times but not terrible.

INSTALL (2014 JK)
First step is to remove your grill. i’m sure there are multiple posts on it. A set of plastic auto trim puller tools from Harbor Freight came in handy for pulling the 6 clips out of the top.
For the turn signal lights, I found disconnecting the connectors was easier than the method described in the instructions.

Removing the trim piece behind the bumper comes next. My two fasteners that hold it down wouldn’t unscrew or pry out nicely, so I wound up using a big flat-head screwdriver to pry between the underside of the big plastic trim piece and the frame.

You loosen the two outside bolts on both side of the plastic front bumper.

You need to cut the ends off the plastic trim piece - I used a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel and it worked well. Made a mess, so was glad to be wearing eye protection.
Here is a pic of the plastic trim piece re-install.

From there you put everything together finger-tight, then do final tightening when it’s all in place.
One note - the brackets are very close to the plastic grill so it would be easy to scratch your plastic grill on them when reinstalling them. If I did this again i’d put some masking tape on bottom corners of the grill to protect it during re-install.

Here’s a pic of the brackets - they are stout.

Here’s a pick of a bracket installed.
Note how sturdy it is and also how close it will be to the plastic grill when reinstalled.

Another pic - I’ve got a 2014 JK - here’s that ‘vacuum pump’ that they sell those relocation kits for.

That's all folks - hope it helps.

I have the1-5/8 version. I was PO'ed after I bought it and they came out with the 2.5 version. I drilled holes in mine below the tabs for my light wires to run and used some rubber grommets and wire loom to dress it up after installing them. Looks awesome but it will hit the auction block when I pull the trigger on the new bumper.

I've taken this off for now to make room for a winch (the bar fits with zero modifications and about .75 of an inch of clearance with RH4x4 plate + Superwinch TS 9500... but it blocks the place where you plug the winch controller in).

Posted some old photos of my install on https://www.flickr.com/photos/ak4marsx/albums/72157660741327000

Received my RealWheels RW310-25BP-J. After checking out the product for damage and finding none I installed it this morning. For the life of me I could not figure out why it looked un-level. I removed the bar and laid it flat along a reference line.... one leg is longer than the other. I have attached 2 photos for reference. Now I contacted them and need them to send me a new bar ASAP as this one is clearly defective.

Wow that sux. But im sure they will get it right. At least it will be a quick install since you have the brackets in already.

Here is mine

My new one arrived and was perfect this time. Great company to deal with. I'll post pics.

Finally got a pic. Fit is nice and installation is simple. I am not sure why I was supposed to loosen the bumper bolts... I didn't need to. Only issue is the brackets are EXTREMELY close to the grill... touching on the passenger side. I added some rubber weather strip to keep it from rubbing.

I've had one for the past year or so. Never had any issues and love the way it looks.

I like the look for sure. My Jeep is my daily driver and weekend cruiser (top down, doors off)! I'm not a rock crawler and I got out of the mud long ago (I did a lot of mud growing up and driving Toyota 4x4's). So I don't need a huge heavy bumper w/ a heavy duty winch. This set up looks great and gives a bit of extra tire clearance for larger tires when the time comes. BTW, it's also a very inexpensive set up.... and an easy mod for the stock bumper.

Just installed mine yesterday. Looks bad ass on the Jeep. Instructions could have been better. They were for 2007 need to be updated for newer models with better photos in color. Although the description states no drilling required the plastic filler plate between the bumper and the grill has to be cut to install the brackets. I also didn't need to remove the bolts on the bumper as stated in the instructions. Maybe it was required on the older models only?
I didn't want to install any lights on the bar so I cut off the light brackets, grinded the weld smooth and sprayed just the area cut with powercoat paint. The welds are on the underside of the bar so you cant see them anyway. I also didn't want to cut the ends off the plastic filler plate so I cut channels in the filler plate for the brackets to slide thru. One tip, when removing the plastic filler plate do not try to unscrew the two plastic fasteners . The plastic is very soft and will only strip the screw head. Instead carefully pry the fastener up with a thin flat head screw driver around the outer circle. Try not to damage. Once out you can removed the screw and re-insert when reassembling. The plastic fasteners securing the grill came out very easily by prying the inner circle of the fastener up with a thin flat head screw driver

I have the 2.5 RealWheels bar on my 2015 Unlimited Hard Rock. Since it is made of stainless steel, I think it is one of best bars on the market and looks great with the factory Hard Rock bumper. I did not use the provided brackets. I only had to drill 2 mounting holes in the bumper instead. I used the light tabs to install xeon lights to light the winch controls in the dark. I also mounted my front camera under the center of the bar which is the perfect placement of the camera.
