Rear axle gear ratio

Just curious on rear axle ratio. I recently purchased a used 2007 jeep Sahara Unlimited. Is there anyway to find the gears installed. It has an automatic and tow package.

Thanks in advance

Call a dealership, give them the VIN number and they should be able to tell you what it came installed with.

3.73 most likely, but I think 2007's had 4.10 option on the Sahara's.

I saw a post saying look at the diff cover in back and there should be a small plate with the ratio stamped on it under one of the bolts.

Fuzzy.

Call a dealership, email Jeep, or log/sign into Jeep.com.

42RLE's came with 3.73's, but there was a 4.10 option on non-Rubi's in early JK's.

If I remember correctly, the stamps on the axle stopped with the JK's as well.

Is there a stamp or a tag that indicates limited slip also?

people keep saying that, but I dont think JK's had that. I have pulled more than a few JK axles and never seen one. my brand new 13, buddies 11, and a few more all didnt have one.

Exactly....

This is what it looks like on a TJ.

From a D60

The tag "used" to be here:

But I've yet to see one on a JK. I've looked at mine, there is nothing that says 3.73 anywhere. If someone has a pic of the tag or stamp on their JK, please post it...and the year of the vehicle. I assume it stopped with all JK's, but maybe it is just with JK's that have D44's in the rear. I think some early JK's might have had D35's....maybe those are stamped.
