Rear Seats

Any benefits from removing the rear seats from a 2 doors JK!!?

I'm thinking of doing that permanently to setup a good box for a subwoofer & to have extra space.

How much the rear seats weight!!? Maybe I will be saving weight too!

Regards.

You'll save on some weight. I yanked mine a while back since its just me and the wife. As for exact weight of the rear bench I'm not sure. Maybe around 40lbs?

75 lbs...that's one less dwarf riding in your Jeep every day.

Is it easily removable? I've been thinking about doing the exact same thing.

I just think they should just put 2 regular reclining seats in the back rather than the crap unadjustable bench garbage thats in there now. Really 30k+ for a Jeep and they couldnt make the back recline a few clicks ...just plain stupid.... my only gripe about the whole vehicle.

The bench is definitely closer to 70+ lbs. I removed mine a few weeks ago. I like the extra cargo space, I think it looks better with the tops + doors off, and it removes easily.

Just tumble the seat forward, push down on the thin bar in between the brackets, and pull the whole seat back towards the rear slightly. The seat should almost "jump" out of its brackets.

Took mine out 2 days after I brought it home. Put in the Tuffy security deck and find that the space between the front (or back as you look at it) wall and the seat back is great for holding things like a small cooler and supplies that you'd like to be able to get at.
It may "only" weigh 75 pounds but it's like dancing with a hippo trying to get it down a flight of stairs into the basement. There it will stay until I get rid of this 2012 to get my next one in a few years.
