I recently purchased my first Jeep, a 2013 2dr Wrangler, used obviously. A couple of questions I've been trying to figure out: 1. Is "PRND" supposed to be illuminated next to gear shifter when lights are on? 2. Is there supposed to be a rigid cover (other than carpet cover) over the rear in-floor storage area?
Just asking to see if these are issues I can address or not.
There should be a hard cover over the storage area, this gives you a flat surface in the back. If you just have a piece of carpet covering the storage area, you are missing the cover.
Also, the gear options should be illuminated so you know what you are shifting into.
Yes on the shifter letters/numbers. here is a link to show you how to change the bulb. http://www.wranglerforum.com/f202/mystery-bulb-1582338.html
My trunk area came with a rigid carpet cover that covers the recessed pocket that holds the hinge pin door nuts and a very small first aid kit. There is a plastic handle that pokes through and twists to lay flat to hold the cover in place.
Congrats on your new rig!:beerdrinking:
I just purchased a 2014 Rubi and same issue. I wasn't sure why it wasn't lighting up and was going to just leave it. But I did buy the extended bumper to bumper warranty. Does anyone know if it's covered? I'd rather not try it myself as I have a habit of brute forcing things and breaking them.
My answer, I bought a new 2012 JKU, and yes, you should have the Park,Reverse,Neutral, and Drive indicator lights lit by the shifter. Mine worked for about 3 years, then when out. My new 2016 Willys also are lit, and they are a little brighter than my 2012. Earlier years, a lot of people had them not work, or didn't even notice they should be lit, but yes, they are lighted. And not just the gear you are in, all are illuminated by the shifter operated when lights are on. P,R,N, and D.The EVIC shows what gear you are in .
