I have 2016 Wrangler unlimited 4 door, I am looking to change side step bar for something different. I have looked at the smittybuilt nerf step bars, N-arf step bars or the Rhino nerf step bars. Anyone have any knowledge or experience with any of these brands?
Same here, TNT Adventure Sliders/Steps.
They are the best available IMO. They have a full step front to back.
2 things about them, 1) they are installed by drilling and bolting to the frame for straight strength and will outlast the Jeep. 2) they are shipped in bare steel so they need to be coated with the coating of you choice (I had mine Line-X'd with the UV coating $200 bucks). I payed $580 shipped from Northridge4x4 for them. More $$ then most others out there but nothing compares with a full step. Totally worth it!!
I went with Quadratec QR4 oval side bars, I like the look and they are well built and install without drilling . Here is a link to my review with pictures
No pictures at the moment, but we just put Hammerhead slider steps on the wife's JKU, and she loves them. Wide enough step to use as a step, and the way it's shaped, you kinda slide out of the Jeep into the gap between front and rear steps. Hard to explain, but look them up! Not bad pricing, and they do bolt to the frame. Only annoyance I have is the pinch seam shows now, but we'll be fixing that with Rubi rails when I can find a set that I don't have to drive 6 hours to pick up and haul back.
I'm going with the MetalCloak rocker/step combo. The step can easily be flipped between an up or down position, depending on your needs. If you're in DD mode, turn it down for a nice step. If you're headed off road, flip it up to provide additional clearance and protection.
They add some extra width to the side of your jeep and help protect your doors from dings in parking lots. Mine have claimed at least 2 victims so far.
For install, a deep socket makes it a lot easier.
We've got the JCR classics on both of our Jeeps.I like that they're big enough to use as a step, but a lot smaller than some of the others. Still lots of clearance and cover the pinch seam. They're also really tough, they bolt onto both the body and attach to the frame at the body mounts.
Thanks for all the great input as I am in the market for either a side step or rock sliders, can't decide which one. Shrockworks has a relatively new offering similar to their rock sliders, but with a strait angle and added dimple treads. I can't find many pictures of them, seems like very few are running them. When I asked for a picture they sent me the top picture, which I zoomed in on the product in the 2nd picture. Still it's really hard to see what they look like. I have heard that Shrockworks has a very good reputation. Anybody running these that can comment or add pictures?
I'm in the same boat. I'm kinda leaning towards the rock sliders for the added protection just in case. These caught my eye.
