Red Accent Opinions/Help

I recently bought a 2012 Black Wrangler. I am thinking of doing the classic black with red accents look, and am looking for some opinions on my ideas as well as some help locating the parts.

For the exterior I'm thinking, red Jeep logo on the front, trail rated badge, tow hooks, grill inserts, lug nuts, and wheel caps.

For the interior, red grab handles (located), red seat covers (located), and red accent plates (door grab handles, and passenger glove box grab handle).

I could plasti dip some of these items, but I did that on my previous vehicle and wasn't really happy with how they came out/survived. I would much rather find replacement parts.

Let me know your opinions (too much?), and any help finding some of that stuff would be great.

I haven't seen a red Jeep logo for the front yet, I've thought about making one but haven't. Go easy on the interior stuff, one step at a time. A little red goes a long way, then again, I've seen some completely red interiors and they can look good if done right. It's all opinion after all.

I wouldn't plasti dip anything- it cheapens everything it's applied to.

Have you found red accent plates anywhere? I haven't been able to locate anything real plates, just the Rugged Ridge slip-overs, which I think look tacky.

You should check ebay for "Jeep Trailhawk"

I've been looking for a set of the molle bags they come with but have noticed red "Trail Rated" replacement logos and such. Seems the trailhawk used red accent pieces.

I have a red spiderwebshade on my commando green. Looks nifty in my opinion. Very functional (when it's not raining, like it has been for dayssss)

Haven't found any yet.

TwoNin9r I like the top. What grab handles do you have on there?

Sorry for the double post, but I just realized I could look for some red rubicon parts for the interior accent plates. Anyone know a good place to get those for a good price?

That is what I'm going for. Are those Rubicon trim pieces? Where did you get those grill inserts/did you make them?

Those pieces pop out very easily. I painted them with some red paint. I don't know exact one but I can send you info tomorrow if you want. The interior was easy and cost like $6. The front is the gutter guard from Home Depot painted with the same paint. Also cheap. The bumper I made myself, then painted some shackles with the same red.

Thanks I'll definitely do the painted gutter guard. Is it the rubber guard or metal? Did you also clear coat them? I'm a little hesitant about permanently painting the accents. If I mess up or don't like it I'm screwed.

The gutter guard is metal. No clear coat. Yeah I didn't put much thought into when I painted the accents, luckily I liked how they turned out. What's the worst that could happen?!

If you dont like it all you need to do is put a Q-tip in some paint thinner and brush it on the recessed accents. i did mine a few months ago (and love them) but that is how i cleaned up the excess paint. its very easy to remove if you dont like it or want to return it to stock.

Well worst case is I end up with crappy painted accents in my new jeep haha. Regardless I would appreciate you telling me the type of paint you used.

Paint thinner doesn't harm the original pieces?

Ive had a lot of sucess with carbon fiber wrap. It looks great if applied right and you can take it off just by heating it if you dont want it any more. They make so many colors too know.

If you watch you tube videos some people have done much of the interior and exterior in carbon wrap.

Thanks, I actually just found that link while looking through the site sponsors.

I was able to grab a red with chrome trim Jeep bad for the grill, and a red trail rated badge. Thanks for the tip about the trail hawk Cheap4tw.

I think as far as interior goes, I'm going to put in some red seat covers and see how I feel about adding more red. If I want more I'll try to paint the glovebox grab handle (I'd still like to know what paint Aytheyisnumber1 used). Depending on how that turns out I will do the door accents. I don't think I want the vent rings though. We'll see.

I forgot I gave the can to a buddy of mine to do his trim, I will find out for you. I know it was rustoleum and I got it at Home Depot for like $6.
