Reflective roof

Dear All:

I live in New Mexico, and it's quite sunny all the time here. So much so in fact that the smell of YJ soft-top in the sun knocks breath out of people. I bought a JK with hardtop, which does not smell, but nonetheless it soaks the sun too well. I'm thinking about painting the roof white or applying an aluminum foil to make it heat less. Did anyone try it before? Any suggestions?

Thank you,
-- Pete

They sell an insulation kit for the hard top JK's.... Jimbox has one. He's in Nevada, so I'm sure that's why. I'll see if I can find a pic....

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Here's a link to a company that sells them... http://hotheadheadliners.com/index.html

Thanx IG, yea they make all the diff. in the world and just painting the exterior won't mean much

Mine is HotRodHeroes, JK kit, from Canada and I also added acustic-thermal insulation for a little more heat diffusion

Here's a pic at 115° last Sept. and it was cool inside with just a blip of the A/C once in a while !!

Use "search" for some home remedy ideas too

Good luck

Thanks for the link to Hothead. It did not occur to me to get anything on the inside, mostly because of the concern for the condensation drainage.

Do not wrap the top in Al. Foil. Especially in New Mexico.

You will attract UFO's. Its like a beacon for them.
