Remote Start

Has anybody had any issues with the factory remote starts on the Wranglers?

Only issue Ive had so far is that it didnt work at all when we had the blizzard here in NY last week. I was even standing right next to the Jeep, the remote locks werent working as well.
Not sure why that would happen as it's worked in much colder weather....

Other than that I've been pleasantly surprised at how well it works from quite long distances.
Sometime it'll start when I press it in my apt which is on the other side of the bldg. from where my Jeep is parked, so lots of walls in between the remote and the Jeep.

I think it's worth having

not, really, have you?

I have found that you need enough gas to keep the low fuel light off or else the motor will shut down right after remote starting

Not sure what causes it but randomly the alarm goes off when using the remote start. Was wondering if the radio is triggering the alarm.

Mine is factory no issues yet. Love it on those cold mornings - now to get seat warmers. That leather gets damn cold.

No issues with mine which I have had for 7 months. Now I need to find a way to make the heated seats come on with the heater.

No PrOblem. just go order a new 11 ford explorer. I just did last week and remote start is stanard and when u start it u get auto 72 in the summer with air cond seats set to high and if its cold u get 72 heater and the seat heaters set to high. It also parks it self and if u are aproching another vehicle to fast is has crash avoidance and applies the brakes for u. third martini so i can't type or spell. the new ford is the smartest suv in the world in many ways and is a hell of a value. But the day after i ordered it i ordered a fully loaded real jeep (2 door) sahara just because i never have owned a jeep. I look at maybe a 100 or more uses and they or mostly overpriced owner abused or modded junk. They do hold their value very well but i don't need your warmed over junk. So i will just get new in my coller and style and most every option.

If your not in too cold a climate they are ok but they are limited so I would not suggest one if you plan to use it a lot.

I would instead get an aftermarket unit with more features, range and up here warranty.

Up here autostarts are big business. Every shop warranties them for as long as you own the vehicle. That is a big deal.

The factory autostarts have short run times. In extreme cold those short times show another fault. After two cycles you must cycle the ignition before it will start by remote again.

The factory unit also does not have a cold start program. That's a mode where it starts the car either based on temperature and or time for a given time period.

The factory units range is short. Real short.

Aftermarket units are a far better option in my opinion on all cards but having the factory piece of mind is nice for sure. The factory unit does work just fine but there is so much better out there.

Yeah, I love it too. Three times I tried to activate it and it didn't work. Two of which were really cold days, when you need it most! It was getting the signal because the lights flashed once. I checked all the doors to make sure they were closed and all, but no luck. After I started it manually it was fine.

Yep, have 09 rubi, had one key fob that would work everytime and one that did most of the time, the dealer replaced both, this happened mostly in colder weather, been replaced for a more than a year now, no problem since. First time the dealer replaced the batteries in both, did not fix problem.

If you need to rent a U-Haul trailer better check, last time I went to rent one, they would not rent to a guy because he had an Explorer, no problem with Jeep though, good luck

I don't know where u-haul came into this, but they will not legally let you rent a trailer if you intend to tow it with a soft top jeep.

Here is a silly question, can you get a remote start on a manual?

I learned just recently that--to my surprise--the answer is not a factory one but yes on an aftermarket one. It was in another recent thread, but it's hard to find on my iPhone.

Absolutely. The aftermarket has been doing it for years.
