removing front bumper

I am trying to remove the stock front bumper on my 07 JK; problem is those plastic rivets holding the plastic skid plate and top plate just sit and spin and wont come out. I don't mind trashing the skid plate, but I'd like to keep the top piece. I did a search and didn't find anything.

Any suggestions?

I wish i could help you but i ended up breaking every single one of those SOB.

I got nothing but admiration for those people that sells their stockers on craiglist. They were patient enough to take those plastic rivets off.

BTW once you take off your plastic skid plate your gonna have some serious hood bounce.I still pucker up every time its windy and a semi passing in front of you.I know its not going to crash on my windshield but i still do every now and then.

pair of pliers

I removed most of mine by grabbing the backside with a pair of pliers...just enough to get the threads to "bite" while unscrewing them...once they're started, they come right out. There are a couple where this isn't possible, and some you have to be a bit of a gremlin to get to them, but it worked for me when I installed a new front winch bumper.

i know you got them out but for those that haven't...

screw a screw into the top of the fastner, just enough to bite in. then grab the screw with a pair of pliers and pull. then reverse the drill and take the screw back out. takes two secounds and the fastners are reusable. doesn't damage them.
