I have an 11 JK - and switched out the amp to my infinity sound system. The amp in the 11 is essentially sandwiched between the vehicle body and the front driver speaker - to get to the amp, I had to take out the driver side speaker (sorry - can't help with the passenger side). I took the front panel beneath the steering wheel off, then took off the side access panel. You'll start to see some screws that hold the dash onto the vehicle. Take them out and start peeling back. I should have taken more screws out than I did (picture me, 87 miles on my Jeep, peeling back the dash, praying it wont snap...uuugh, while my bud wiggles the speaker out). I remember reading somewhere that one of the screws is under the dash-top tray. It's all one big piece, so kind of a PIA. Wonder if someone else has some better suggestions! The driver side speaker comes out easiest if you pull away from the vehicle rather than down - I'd suggest even taking the doors off to help with space constraints. Good luck.
