Thanks.
I just tried mine by hand, it would not budge either. As someone post earlier, use WD-40 to loosen it up?

The 14" looks just like the stock antenna except it is:
Black
14" tall

It is not a fat rubber thing.

I tried both and I like the look of the 14 better than the 13.
Also my reception was poor with the 13, "normal" with the 14.
The test was simple - press scan on the radio and see how many stations it stopped on. The 14" stopped on about 3x more stations.

Mine was like that too, couldn't get an adjustable wrench to grip it cuz the head of the wrench was too big. Just use a small wrench...I think it took a 5/16. It comes loose easily with that.

Thank you my friend. I think the 14" will be order

Plus I noticed they are cheaper on Amazon than the actual AntennaX site...

reception issues

There's a few posts in this thread about the physics of radio antennas and the first one I read is entirely correct. (My Dad was a broadcast engineer, so I heard all this ever since I was a kid) It's physically impossible for a shorter antenna (whether coiled or not) to get the same type of frequencies with the same strength as the longer 30" antenna. The Wrangler antenna is the length it is for a reason.

That said, I am using iPod, Satellite, CD's MUCH more than I ever tune in local FM stations, and I ONLY listen to one local station here in Pittsburgh, so I rolled the dice that this antenna would work for the one station I listen to, in the areas close to home when I want to listen to it. And I did it because IMO the stock antenna is too "out of step" with the rest of the look of the vehicle, that it was more important to me than full range reception. (Form won out over function this time) But I doubt I'll b able to get this station in for as long as I travel away from home as with the stock 30+" one.

The gamble paid off and I can get the one station I need in the free FM range just fine. Your mileage may vary.

just knocked this off the to-do list. I really like the way the shorter antenna looks. I never really paid any attention to the giant silver whip until i read this thread and then i couldnt quit noticing it. I never listen to FM stations, so any loss of reception will hardly be noticed.

I have noticed reception issues with the 13" from AntennaX. Thinking about getting the 14". Anyone else had any issues?

So now both the Stang and the Jeep have the billet antennas and they look great.

THANKS - will recommend you to anyone I know and will shop from you again in the future.
