If you like static, reduced range and paying almost twice as much. It has been our experience that anything shorter than 13 inches and your reception is greatly reduced--thats why we dont sell anything shorter. We actually tried their product with our adapter on the jk and we get a lot of static living in flat florida, i can imagine what its like living in the city. Their website even states loss of reception. Now if just listen to xm, just leave the long antenna off.

I had one on my Raptor for two years and had no problems. Just moved it over to my Jeep with a $3 adapter.

Living in a major metro area probably helps, but didn't have any issues in the sticks either.

Had nothing but great customer service from them also.

i owned a raptor for 3 months when they first came out, went back to the Wrangler because it suited me better. My main issue with fords in general is their A/C doesnt blow cold enough and living in FL this is a must. Yes, new car a/c is pretty weak compared to others, even 10 year old vehicles. Do you like the Wrangler better than the raptor?

Hmm...weird...the AC in my Raptor worked great. Even in Death Valley or the Mojave in 110+ degree heat. I have heard other complaints about AC, but again I never had an issue.

I just traded my Raptor for a 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit V8, which is now keeping my 2012 JKUR company.

The Raptor is an awesome truck. I don't think the Wrangler and the Raptor can be directly compared. When I owned both I took advantage of both vehicles comparative strengths.

To the Antenna X member: I have a 2012 with factory sat radio. Will the off road antenna work with the sat radio?
Thanks.

The sat radio has a separate antenna on the sound bar.

Well, I got the antenna from Antenna X, Looks great but have to say the reception is less then desirable. I guess living in the mountains of East TN isn't the best place for great reception to begin with but the stock antenna works tremendously better then the 13" Offroad style antenna. Torn between spots of static or huge antenna. I would guess that in the mountain trail it could be wose but haven't had a chance to try it there yet but around town, going down roads with hills on both sides the reception is not that great.

I have to agree about less than stellar reception. I have a 4" antenna on my Grand Cherokee and it gets better reception than this 14" one, and it was only $10 at Pep Boys. I am in a large city. Maybe the billet one would be better?

keep in mind the antenna mount is on the side fender on the wrangler and the new grand cherokee in on the roof. The high the anntenna mount is on the vehicle, the better the reception. all in all, it all depends on location and terrain. for the most part, reception is just as good as stock on either short antenna we sell for the wrangler

It's easy. Unscrew it, and screw the new one on.

Got my 14" billet one and installed it. My strong channels are coming in fine. The weaker ones hit static a lot quicker. I have a lot of strong channels but will be travelling on the highways and outskirts of town next week...should be a good test.

If it is not good enough, I'll cut the stock and plasti-dip it so it whips less and has better reception. I'll start by cutting just enough to where it does not hit the Jeep while off-road and being whacked by branches. Even 8''-10" will help a lot, so I may end up with a 20" antenna.

Didn't really notice how tall the stock antenna was until I came across this post. Antenna ordered!! First purchase for the new ride. Now that I'm warmed up let's see what else I can burn some dough on.

Depending on where you live, you will probably lose some channels. I installed mine, I live in MA, and lost half my channels. Needless to say I painted my stock antenna black on put it back on.

In my opinion, the JK has less than desireable FM reception when stock. I'm not going to make it worse by using a shorter antenna. I've used AntennaX shorty antennas on other vehicles and lost reception with them (which makes sense to anyone who understands RF radiation). Plus, mine broke at the base during an ice storm. So I went back to the stock steel antenna and haven't looked back since.
