Last Saturday I put on a 14" billet style antenna that I bought from antennax. It cost me alittle over $20. I've had no reception loss....yet

Wow, I have never taken my Jeep antenna off at the car wash. Or, on any car and nothing has ever happened.

Do you guys not use your stock antenna as a height check for entering parking garages?

With mine having a 4" lift and being on 35's, I pretty much have to.

I mounted one on my JKUR and one on my wifey's Tacoma. Love the look but here in rural NL we lost about 50% reception or worst. Put the stockers back on but not before I paint the JK's black. Looked shitty in chrome, IMHO.
AntennaX isn't any good in rural areas where reception is less then perfect. Be warned!

Replaced mine with a stuby. My 4 foot firestik antenna is the tallest point of my jeep. I'd use that but I don't even try to go into garages anymore.

You used a link to ZenCart as an antenna?

So how hard do you need to try to unscrew your OE antenna on a 2012 JK sport before it unscrews? The AntennaX instructions say that if your stock antenna screws off you are golden, but I have made a passing attempt to unscrew it and it didn't budge. I didn't want to apply too much force before consulting the wisdom of the WF. What am I unscrewing exactly and how hard should I be doing it (that's what she said)?

There's a bunch of postings on here about the AntennaX 13 inch antenna. I put one on with no loss of reception. What I wanted to add to the thread was that I always look first to Amazon for my "enhancements" because I have Amazon Prime. No tax, No shipping, and 2 day delivery. They don't always have stuff but they have a great many things. I got my grab handles, sun shade reflectors and the antennae that way. My Quadratech front liners and my rear deck liner, I ordered from Quadratech by going thru Google shopping...again, no tax and no shipping. Just a tip.

I had to get a wrench and crank. It unscrewed and the new one installed perfectly. Just be careful not to turn too hard an ding your paint. I threw some painters tape over the body section so I wouldn't ding it with the wrench.

Ok, so some force is needed. Thanks. And are you turning the circular base that is connected to the Jeep, I assume? You are *not* turning the antenna stick?

yes, a 10mm open end wrench, or if you dont have one just use an adjustable wrench. the factory uses blue loctite on the antenna threads that is why you need to loosen it

I am kind of PO'd right now. I bought an Antenna X antenna a few months back. None of the connectors fit my 99 TJ's stock antenna bracket but, with a little elbow grease I was able to get one of the connectors screwed about halfway down (yes, it is my fault for forcing it) before it got stuck. This resulted in very spotty radio reception. My problem now is that I want to remove the Antenna X antenna, but when I went to do so the antenna screwed off leaving the adapter screwed tight as hell into the stock antenna holder. In my disgust I sawed the old adapter down and am attempting to drill out the remaining piece of the connector from the stock antenna holder. My fancy Antenna X antenna also has a piece of the old adapter jammed up in it. Yes, I should have been more patient in trying to find the right adapter but why would Antenna X not provide the right size adapter in the first place!?!?! If they advertise it for the TJ, then one of the adapters they provide should fit the TJ.

Oh yeah, so I haven't had radio for about a month. I guess it's my own fault but just really venting about Antenna X not getting the right adapters for a TJ.

no need to bash us as you can see there are many AntennaX fans here. sounds like you got a bad adapter that we would have replaced for free if you would have contacted us with the problem. If anyone has a problem with their antenna order, please email or PM us so we can address any issues with your order ASAP. Thanks again for all of your support!!
