There must be variations in the adapter, or it was the wrong adapter.

Mine screwed in perfectly. You must have cross threaded it.

Got my black antenna-x and installed in about 5 minutes. A dab of black sharpie corrected my enthusiastic install.

Installed antennaX on mine and my wife's JKs yesterday. My radio reception is destroyed. Her radio reception seems fine.

Darn.

I got an AntennaX from Pat at Fields when I bought my Jeep, love it. I don't know how it does with AM/FM reception as I use Sirius, but it sure looks a lot better. My price, couldn't be beat!

Received and installed my off-road antenna x last night - looks great and radio reception is OK. I do have a bit more static on some channels and most of my AM stations are now gone. I'm in suburbia about 30 miles from central Dallas, so that may be my issue. Overall, I'm happy with the look and especially the price in case I ultimately backtrack. I may try the modification on the stock antenna that I've seen here, but not in a rush.

I have problems with my adapter also, it will not stay tight. The vibration causes it to come loose, I use pliers and towel to tighten it to the point I was concerned it would snap. I will see how long it will stay tight this time.

Try using either RED or BLUE locktite on the thread next time, it will hold a lot better!

you might want to take apart the antenna bottom an make sure the thread inside is touching the metal inside the rubber mast, let me know if that helps as some might not be screwed in all the way from the factory

Antenna X billet or off road

If you go through the thread, you'll find about 45 people say their reception improved or stayed the same, about 5 said it worsened. Depends on your geography. Mine actually improved and looks much better than the 35" monstrosity that was on there.

Just installed the 14" AntennaX, it worked & looked great. The radio reception was not affected, and the antenna screwed-in easily by hand (with the adapter included in the package.)

Just installed the 13" AntennaX yesterday. Scanning stations before/after showed no difference in reception.

If you are far away from the stations, you may need the 35" antenna for proper reception. If you are 10 miles away like me, you don't. Mine works great.

I installed mine yesterday, the installation was easy. I think it looks cool compared to the old metal antenna. However I did loose quite a bit of signal strength. My radio keeps going in and out of stereo mode. Any quick fixes to try and improve this. I really don't want to go back to the old one.

I'm also in the same boat LOVE the looks of it, but the reception SU#$S our local radio station which is powerful still fades in and out. Luckily I just use my phone for music.

Yes it was. Thanks for your reply. Good thing is is that if I can find a different one that goes better it is easy to change. I like it because it is different.

You get what you pay for by installing these cheap shorty antennas. They just don't work well.

False. Read the entire thread... about 95% of the people who use it have no difference in reception, some have better. Mine was improved when I put my stubby on. I love mine.

Depends on your location. If your 35" stock antenna works good for you, keep it. The stubbies don't work for everyone but it will for most. I recommended it to some friends as it worked well for me.
