The 2010 brochure didn't have them pictured either. I too thought it was kind of odd they excluded them. Maybe all brochures do; I never really thought about it.

Signed up just to reply! lol (I've lurked a while)

Purchased the 8" shorty from antenna source. Cheap mods rule.

I had already painted my stock black, but took it off because it hit my windshield lights when I got them.

X2 for me. I went with the same one. I was getting tired of my antenna hitting my IPF when offloading!

Gland, are you saying that running a tap and die set on the threads of the antana and hole would improve reception?

I don't know for sure, but I believe the two years have the same antenna mount, so it should fit. Someone else will have to chime in on that.

It won't have any effect on Sirius. That's satellite radio with an entirely separate antenna.

Make sure you guys are talking about the same antenna. There's been at least two different ones that have been mentioned in this thread.

I got this one yesterday, which expressly states it will fit a 2011. I have a 2010 though, so I really don't know.

came across this site as well...not sure how legit.

but it specifies more models...

Jeep Wrangler*Short Stubby Antenna

Straight up they tell you in the FAQ...lol

Quote:
STUBBY ANTENNAS:
Q: How is the radio reception of these antennas when comparing to OEM one?
A: The radio reception will decrease since these antennas are shorter.

Does anyone know any stores in the LA/SoCal area who sell stubby aerials for a 2011 JK?
I'm getting a little pissed at finding good aerials then finding shipping of like $25 to Australia
I'm coming to LA in mid Feb for 8 days, and would like to find somewhere I can go and pick one up (plus other Jeep bits!!!)
By then, I might even have my JK

He didn't have to though...said it screwed in better after the fact. Mine prob. would have spun right in if i cleaned the threads out also. Its fine.

Just installed this antenna (http://www.shortyantennasource.com/).

Here are some pics, including a side-by-side with the stock antenna. Very (very) easy and looks great in my opinion.

Just installed, looks great, e-mailed them to let them know how pleased I am with the product. Now the only thing, is to get use to it.

I ordered and am using the rubber shorty antenna. As stated previously, my spacer broke within a week of installation. I emailed the company and they sent me a replacement which I have installed. In the mean time, I have also ordered the metal shorty antenna because I think it actually looks better than the thick rubber one. However, the vendor is on back-order for about a week so I will not get it as quickly as I received the first one I ordered.

I will have both and can change back and forth to see which one actually gets the best reception. After I get a chance to try both, I will post the results.

i'm considering just cutting mine down and coating it with this..

Plasti Dip 11oz White 11207-6

Now that i installed my windshiled brackets and lights..the stock antenna rests against it...

Sorry for not writing back sooner but I have not had internet for a few days. Anyways I cleaned the threads with a tap and die set because when I was installing mine for the first time it seemed really hard to screw in. After cleaning the threads it screwed in like the OEM one did. When I cleaned the threads a thin layer of chrome came off exposing the brass threads. As far as better reception goes, who knows. I live in the city and have always had good reception and for the most part I use the Sirius radio 99% of the time anyways.

Well mine short antenna came in last night. I went with the metal one look pretty sharp and I have not had any issues with reception yet.
I had an Xb with an integrated antenna and had issues getting several stations at my house. Everything seems to still be coming in crystal clear. Will add more comments if I end up having any issues.

...alright, i just put the new antennae on. it's the 8" 'shorty antennae' and it looks pro.

...put a dab of 'die electric' grease on the threads and she screwed in smooth and tight.

...clears the lights by a mile.

...didn't fire up the rig though so i can't tell you anything about the reception. i'll find out soon enough.
