John, can you post a close up picture of the Black Billet 14" ANTENNA where it screws into the jeep mount?

Is there a way of taking the stock antenna off and replacing it with a CB style antenna mounted on the back bumper? I vaigly remember seeing a picture of this done, but I cant remember. I have also heard of putting the trail rated badge over the antenna indention. Any thoughts?

so you want the am/fm antenna on the back bumper, remove the stock antenna and mount--put a trail rated badge in place?

yes, thats possible

Well, the pic I remember seeing, had an am/fm antenna that looked like the CB antennas, thicker and a little taller, not just the "wire" that is stock. Any pictures or parts list?

Tax the rich Jeep owner, right?
Our ever dwindling economy will be bolstered by free trade and getting government out of our lives.
Sorry for the hijack but I can not ignore that.

Some think a stock antenna (twanging around in the brush) is better,
some think a shorty is more functional.

Some think government is the solution,
some think government is the problem.

In both cases, I fall into the latter group.

Received my AntennaX Off-Road 13" antenna today (NO TAX, no shipping, no 14 mile drive to town) and it's on. Seems to pull in AM stations about the same as stock.... We'll see.....

My Antenna X was an instant plug and play thanks to that included adapter. Install was @ 2 minutes including walking to get the wrench to remove the stocker and putting it back on the rack.
Without the adapter included, trying to source one would have added a lot of time.

Regarding reception, AM is not LOS and almost anything works pretty well as an antenna. I have not definitively tested the FM reception with quantitative signal measurement but FM stereo is mostly LOS and anything shorter will be at a disadvantage. With that having been said, there is no noticeable difference in reception of strong local signals And I really don't care that I get a noisy signal that sounds poor an extra two miles with a taller silver antenna. Odds are the radio may reject it anyway. I also listen to Sirius and the iPhone and Pandora almost exclusively anyway.

We have found over the 10 years we have been in business, anything shorter than 13 inches compromises radio signal significantly that is why we dont sell anything shorter for a fender mount.

Do yo have anything for the small gap that shows the silver bolt? Purely cosmetic, but the black plastic skirt on the antenna doesn't meet the plastic on the base.

to be honest with you i dont even notice it. Now that you pointed it out, I also see the silver antenna base on the top of the antenna mount--the plastic antenna cover is open on the top side.

I got the thick stubby one shown above. The adapter was a VERY tight fit in my 11 JK and needed some WD 40 to even screw in. To get mine to fit without the gap I had to to put a nut on the top portion of the adapter to be able to wrench the adapter down further so that the non-threaded portion of the adapter sat flush with the Jeep mount. Then I screwed in the mast and there was no gap.
