So, I cut off the stock antenna to 22", soldered the ball back back on the end, and painted with Rustoleum flat black. Reception is back, and no twanging in the branches, and looks better, IMO.

Done with antennas......

Hey Antenna X

I have a 2012 JKU Rubicon and I want that 13-14 inch, whatever it is, rubber antenna. I went to your website and I can't figure out the the difference between item numbers; F01J-JEP17 and F01J-JEP18. Which one do I need?

Looks good Bill. May do that later but right now I am enjoying my music collection on the HD and Sirrius. Have the shorty for looks. Does not do well in Deep East Texas or as we say "behind the pine curtain".

I got mine on today. I mucked the plastic Jeep bevel up pretty good with some nice divots by my own negligence removing the stock with a wrench.

But all in all, the Antenna X is a top notch item. Looks great,

Why does everybody, or at least somebodies, hate the stock antenna? Never seen one torn off in the woods.

But they whip around all over the place and get stuck on everything.

They actually can create body and glass damage from whipping back. Most manufacturers have moved and shorten their antennas to the rear roof or imbedded in the side/rear glass. All trucks and some SUV's still have antennas mounted on the front fender. The reason why is that trucks and our Wranglers dont have sufficient glass angle to mount in the glass like most SUV's have in rear/side windows.

Shortening the antenna cleans up the appearance, gives the Wrangler a more rugged look.

Ordered! Mine stock antenna kept hitting branches and wiplashing around. However, even though I clicked quantity 1 once I placed the ordered it said quantity 2.... guess it was my fault for not looking over it properly but now I can't go back and change my order so I'm stuck with an extra antenna..... Oops

Got my AntennaX, and really happy with the reception. Considering I'm in the N. Idaho area! If you off road or not, It's a cheap "must" upgrade! Also help when you're trying to scrape an icy windshield, it doesn't get in the way.

I just ordered mine the other day. My buddy ordered his and put it on. Looks great and he says he has no issues with radio reception. He got the 13" from antenna x...I waited for confirmation of whether it works or not. He has had no issues. Excited to get mine. I'll post pictures when I get it installed.

No difference in reception is anecdotal and subjective. The physics of the setup says that reception WILL be less not MIGHT be less. HOWEVER you probably will not notice on local stations. There are posts in this thread that point out that the reception is not as good. If reception of distant stations is important to you, then this antenna is probably not a good mod. In close to just about any metropolis the antenna will be adequate.

Hey, y'all! I've had my 13" rubber antenna installed for a couple of weeks and I just want to mention what a great antenna mod this is! Also, had a little crack on the bottom part of mine (without yanking or auto car washing). So I emailed AntennaX and John will be sending me a replacement this Friday! What a great customer service! So, if you're still on the fence, hop on over and get one of these Antenna. It's worth it!!!

Just ordered my antennaX.com antenna based on all of the happy customers from this forum but noticed there was a $5 shipping charge now. Bummer.

$19.99 delivered and paid for via PayPal.

That is for the billet antenna, not the rubber one right? Did you mean to order the rubber one?

Glad it worked out for you. Just wondering...Do Rubi's have diff antenna mounts than others? Didn't have to do anything on mine. :-)
