I found a 4 door unlimited jeep with 77K miles for $19K. Its a 2011 its here at a local dealership. But it is right hand drive.

I test drove it today and it was quite awkward but I wanted to get some feedback from everybody. The outside was in pretty good shape. I looked under neath and I thought I seen a couple poles or spots that looked a little rusty but wasn't too bad. There was 2 bolts that hold the front seats down that looked a little rusty... Those were the cons I found. But the hard top and everything looked in good shape. They told me I can keep my current wheels and tires also.

They told me they would give me $19,500 for my 2011 2 door jeep and my monthly payment would go up about $8.

Is this a good deal or no because of the fact its right hand drive???

Like you said it's akward and it takes time to get used to even if when you drive on the wrong side of the road.

Look at the KBB value for an equivalent LHD JKU and knock off at least $3-4 and see how that compares to the asking price.

Also, it's going to be a pain to sell when you decided to change again. This time it only took you 3 years.

If you can't put up with the awkwardness, get a great deal and put up with the hassle of selling it or you are planning to pick up a mail or paper route then it nothing else really matters. It looks to me like might be attracted to it because it is same color as your current JK.

I think KBB is notoriously over-priced in their trade-in estimates and dealers never seem to use them unless it's a come-on to get people in the door where they then won't negotiate as much on the sticker. I haven't found a good online source for finding a true trade-in value that fell in line with what an actual dealer was willing to offer.

why the hell would you want a right hand drive vehicle unless you are mail postal delivery service? LOL!
I would run away from that, your resell value will be terrible!

I couldn't imagine having a RHD vehicle. Toll booths, parking garage/lot exits, airport exits, passing someone on a two lane road going too slow, drive-up ATMs, bank tellers, drive-thru's, resale value, etc. All seem like reasons to avoid one. I'd pass on it if it was me.

You might be able to refinance it. Credit unions often offer this. You'll end up with a slightly worse interest rate and you might be back up to a 5 year loan, but it can certainly lower your payments. I've found myself in that situation and cut my loan roughly in half. Once things improved a bit I was able to start making larger payments and catch back up.

i think its cool and i was actually considering one prior to buying my 2014,but at the same time as everyone else says they're a bunch more cons to owning one.

do yourself a favor and just look at something LHD....

not sure where I read this : "All RHD Jeeps are 2wd".

Can not confirm that.

What I can tell you, after driving a RHD mail rig 3 years, the novelty wears off real fast. After that it's pretty much a butt pain. It _was_ had for the mail route I had....but everything else was buzz kill.

The JKU I drive is 4wheel drive. All of the jeeps that we use for deliveries are 4 wheel drive due to the winter conditions where we are and they are ALL RHD jeeps. Some older than others - I just happened to get a brand new one with only 9K miles on it. Seriously - I would have loved it if they had given me an old TJ to drive.

I deliver mail and I drive a 2014 JKU RHD. Wasn't difficult at all getting used to being on the RH side - although I am right handed - I tend to use my left hand more so shifting (auto) was really easy for me but looking to the left to see out of the rear view mirror is still awkward.

Personally I wouldn't buy it. Two major reasons - although the maintenance on the vehicle should be just fine - if it was used for a route like I have it is drive 100 yards, park - turn off ignition - get out - get back in 5 min later - turn on ignition and drive 100 yards - repeat 20x over the course of the day.

Or if it was used to where the mailman drives to each mailbox - they never get over 10 mph and it is stop and go the entire time for hours on end. I can't see either scenario being anything but negative on the engine wear and tear.

And no - I want to eat lunch and I can't go through a drive thru because I can't reach over to the other side of the vehicle to pay for lunch let alone extending my arm out far enough for them to hand me a bag of lunch.

Just another mail delivery person :)

thanks for the update.....don't know where my misinformation originated.

Maybe you could BACK into the drive thru.....your flashers already are working overtime!!!!

Those darn flashers drive me N.U.T.S.!!!!

I like the idea of backing into the drive-thru - good idea! Or not? Probably would get a ticket especially in this area.

Have seen several RHD in this area....IDK why exactly..but there seems to be a "surplus" almost.......and see some on the trails sometimes.

Not to be a wet blanket...just curious...why trade a JK for another JK without the "motor upgrade" to a '12 Pentastar or newer?

IMO it would have to be a REALLY GREAT DEAL to trade, like maybe for a RUBI unlimited or something along those lines....just asking....maybe the cost savings make it worth the investment?

Can someone explain please?

I'm curious -- You buy a truck for 19, they give you 19,500 for your trade, meaning you're financing $500 less than before, right? So why does your payment go up? Did you have some killer rate before that they can't match? I'm not up on car loan rates these days...

I used to own a right hand drive BMW when I put it for sale a drug dealer showed up the first day it printed in the paper and paid cash. I asked him why he wanted a right hand drive car and he said he was thrilled to be able to pull up to the curb and talk to his friends and not have to lean over the seat or have them walking in the street.
