Rim size?

I'm thinking of getting new rims for my p225/70r18. The ones I want are 18x8.5 with 6" of space. Can the 8.5. Fit on my tires? Or do I need a bigger or smaller width, can't find what the width is on my stock wheels.

What's your goal?

The wheel you're describing is mall-crawl territory. Is that what you're after?

Yes, I just need to know if the 8.5 will fit on those tires. I don't want to order the wrong size wheels

I doubt they'd fit well, actually. That wheel is really wide for that tire.
Check with the tire manufacturer on what width wheel they suggest.

Tires for an 8.5" wide wheel would generally be at least 12" wide or greater.

Huh? STOCK rim sizes run 7" to 8", maybe 8 1/2"...and STOCK tires are no where near 12" wide...
Up here in New England anyone that offroads generally runs 10"-12.5" TIRES on 8" wide rims, with 3.5 to 3.75" backspacing. Gives you the sidewall flex you need when airing down.

OP is wanting to mount a 225 on the 8.5" wheel.

My stock Sahara wheel was a scant 7.5".
That wheel will dwarf the little tire.

Another question, I'm on tirerack right now, and my lug spacing is 5x5, my back space is 6", what is the off set mean? And do I need a wheel with exactly 6" backspace, or can I do a 5 or lower?
