RIP power steering

After searching the Web I've found out that this is actually kind of common with the Jks, the weak internals of the pump and all. I was doing some sand donuts and sand trails when about an hour in my wheel feels tighter than a nun to turn.

My fluid was still turning and I got a nice whining with increased rpm (pump gets more power if you didn't know) and the only reasonable way to turn the wheel was with the increased rpm above 5mph. So this lasted a day until I try to drive her this morning and I can tell it's totally shot, the damn wheel is having a seizure on me lol!

I'm not gonna bother on pulling the pulley shaft to see if it's broke because I'm still. Under warranty. Just venting and wondering if there's anyway to reinforce this new pump once it's in.

Its not a jeep thing. Doing donuts is very hard on PS pumps and has killed many of them. If you have it on the floor and the wheel cranked all the way to the stops the damned thing is running at max output but has nowhere for the fluid to go but threw the relief valve wich is no where big enough to take the strain off the pump.

Odds are vere good that the pump shot its wad becouse of you, not because the pumps are a bad design.

I have no doubt it was my fault, and never said it was a bad design. Just searched and noticed a lot of other jeeps killed there's with mudding etc. All which would take a high load on to the pump. Thanks for the bit of info with the relief valve though did not know that specific.

Looks like no more sand donuts

Sure you can still do them if that's what you like. Just don't hold the wheel all the way over.

Install a PSC and be done with it. Nothing like maintaining power steering while the front is locked.
