Rock hit window...aarrgghh!!

How much are you guys paying for windshields.....damn those 18 wheelers.....the damage is about the size of a quarter or a bit bigger. Will the windshield repair do any good?

I just have mine replaced. It's free, so whatever. Repairs keep it from spreading (not always) but they still look like crap.

Call your insurance company.

Haven't gotten it done myself, but a friend of mine got one done for something like $25-40. Not sure about the DIY kits though; might not be as neat as a pro-job, and little margin for error.

I did call my insurance company a chip once... and they said it had to come out of my deductible (State Farm)

Bought Jeep Saturday with 19 miles on it. Three days and 250 miles later, rock chips the window.

I just took it to a nearby Speedy Glass for a $20 repair, can only see it if I really look for it. In and out in 20 minutes.

Weird. Glass is usually not included in deductibles, but maybe it's a state thing.

it does depend on the state. I know FL is a state where its free as long as you have full coverage

even if you have full coverage (liability + collision & comprehensive), you may not have glass coverage

glass is an option on your comprehensive coverage

most states have a $0.00 ded for glass but some do have an amount

best thing to do, check your policy prior to calling your ins co bc thety may list a comp/glass claim on your policy if you tell them about it, even if you do not want to report it

I did it recently with a non OEM type window ( no little jeepy thing on the window). $180 out the door. Prices ranged from $180 to over 4 hundred. Call around and shop.

It's state by state, in Florida it's included you never have to pay for a windshield replacement

Colorado the insurance doesn't cover it, but you can get it as optional

Bought a new Jeep last night and I made them throw in the windshield protection plan

I've had much bigger chips and even long cracks from 18 wheelers. Its amazing what some repairers can do. I was going to get a new windshield for a van, but said what the heck, a repair is worth a try. Still holding up after 5 yrs, and even a lifetime guarantee if i should ever need it.

I did the DIY kit on my sons VW a couple years ago, can't see it unless you know where to look.

I've had to replace the windshield on every Jeep I've owned. The good news is the glass for these is MUCH cheaper than other vehicles and they can be R&R'd in a little over an hour.

I bought my Jeep with a Broken windshield.....Dealership fixed it as part of the deal. The guy showed up the next day, put the new windshield in, took him an hour at the most while we BS'd in the driveway.
The next week the wife and I were on a short road trip, BANG oncoming car threw a rock, hit my new windshield dead center. Made a small crack about 1/2" long. got home called the glass guy, he sent out a friend who did Repairs , They guy was in my driveway within 40 minutes, fixed the crack, guarenteed it for life , and was gone.
Didn't cost me a dime...Called Insurance Company ( I have Full Coverage), they OK'd everything and the repair guy billed them...
You gotta really look hard to see the repaired crack... "BH"
