this I have to know .??

I know you stated this 2.5" X-Factor kit is a new offering PF, when can we expect it to hit Qtec and KOR and the like?

I dont know, it must be in the works.

Jason from Krawl offroad can get it for you now. At this point this lift is so new that it requires a phone call to rock krawler to order.

Mine was the first non-prototype installation.

MPG Formula

Ok so im through the first tank of gas since the lift.

My guages are still set up for the 32 inch KMs and thus, Im driving more miles because the new tires turn less times per mile.

with the bad guages, I went 200 miles on 17 gallons of gas.

The original KMs turn 649 times per mile, and the new Druatracs turn 604 times per mile.

Here's my math

200 miles x 649 km revolutions = 129800 / 604 dt revolutions = 214 Miles / 17 gallons of gas = 12.6 MPG

Someone check that and tell me if I'm off.

Keep in mind, I never got better than 15 MPG. Im hard on the gas pedal.

Quick question. Do you mind taking a measurement from the road to the bottom of the stock Rubi rails behind the front wheel and in front of the back wheel???

Thanks.

The jack stands are supported by the rear cross member of the ladder frame actually. I am the videographer and editor so I know where it is being supported. I have the pictures that show where it is supporting.

Watching this thread. Nice Rig by the way...I live right down the street and drive by their shop almost daily and saw you Rig in there. They did a great job. Pondering when I want them to do mine. Did they say when they were moving and where? Probably wouldn't hurt to get a bigger shop as more and more people are going there haha.

Hey Pie, looking good so far!! I missed this thread last night. I have been gone all week and had just got home. Was tired. You'll love the RK kit. Great write-up so far, also. Thanks, Don

Wheeled it!!

Ok, I was one of the people who thought, "the rubicon is made for off road, I dont need a lift or bigger wheels".

THE TIRES

My previous perception-

The Duratracs- 34.4 inches from Tirerack.com, so what am I really getting 1 inch of ground clearance? Who needs that? Its an inch!

My current perception-

There is no comparison. I dont know why that inch makes a big difference but, to all you jeepers who have your enjoy going off-road with stock wheels and think that 35s are not worth the investment... Think again. The big tires are a complete neccessity. My truck walked over everything out there with EASE. Maybe its because they are spaced out an extra 9 inches with the wheels backspace or that they are 12.7 inches wide. But they made wheeling a pleasure. Id never had so much fun offroad.

The Goodyear wrangler Duratrac is possibly one of the best tires available. (There is a 90 day backorder right now from goodyear but Tirerack.com has them in stock.) I know some of you will freak when I say that, but when you touch the soft rubber compound in the DT and then touch a hard rubber compound tire you will see what im talking about.

Sidewall- Some people are against the Duratrac because of the 2 ply sidewall, dont be, the tire aired down to 15 psi very rarely has the sidewall touch the rocks. the side lugs got some action, but even in the sharp rocks my tires never seemed to be in danger.

-how do I know? Im going to post some axle cam footage tonight for you guys.

The lift in the rocks

I already stated that the Rock Krawler 2.5 X-factor was superior to stock on the road if your adding weight. I stand by that.

Heres my next statement after offroad testing it.

In the rocks, weight or no weight, Rock Krawler's lift makes the stock rubicon suspesion look like garbage. yes thats in bold letters, its a bold statement, thats how I feel about it. The stock control arms on a Rubicon are the same as the wrangler sport, and the same as most solid axle trucks. They are not made with serious off road driving in mind.

I wheeled the stock rubi thinking "a lift dosent give your axles gound clearance, so whats the point?" (I drove it stock all over rausch creek)

Of course, you can do a lot with the stock rubicon, but how confidence inspiring is it? I didnt find it to be terribly fun being off-road. I felt like I had to go wheeling since I bought this Jeep, but I would always be so on edge the whole time and then be happy when it was over.

Why? because the stock non-misaligning arms would scare me repeatedly. I would regularly feel like I was about to roll the jeep. Get on a rock with your right front tire, the cabin tips left etc. The stock static arms not allowing misalignment ment that the cabin would tilt mercilessly. Other people outside the truck would tell me I was fine but it was a nervous expirience to say the least.

Now with the 2.5 X-Factor, I can fit the 35s, wich I love, and I have the RK Misalignment control arms upper and lower, front and rear. (thats the point of the X-Factor lift. Every stock arm comes out. Only RK parts control your axles) All the RK control arms working together allow misalignment so the suspension can twist without the cabin tilting like crazy.

What does that mean? Wheeling dosent get scary anymore. I have the confidence that my truck will climb anything. I take more technical lines. The cabin moves ofcourse, but not at all like before. You see the rocks in front of you, and you see them behind you, but when you go over them, the ride is a pleasure. You dont feel exhausted with white knuckles after a few hours.

If anyone reading this got their Jeep because wheeling seemed like fun and got a bad taste in their mouth off road, Look into these control arms. Wheeling is great fun, You just need the right tools for the job.

It comes with I think 14 MM bolts.

they are the same size as what is in your stock control arms, but the RK control arm holes are really 14mm to fit them correctly.

Not like the stock arms with 9/16s holes with 14mm hardware.

If you changed your bolts to 9/16s like I did when I first got the Jeep, those bolts get replaced when you install this lift.

I knew that picture was coming pluke.

I said that the you "could" wheel a stock Rubicon. Its just a lot more fun with the supeior control arms that allow misalignment. I can say that having had both.

Your a veteran wheeler. And that is a great pic.

Awesome Jeep, it really came out sweet.

I just have one gripe, or maybe I'm just anal/OCD about stuff like this.... For $335 per shock, don't you think they could fab up a better resi mount then those hideous hose clamps?!? Just looks cheesy to me...
