Rocker Guards

Evening folks ...looking into rocker guards. I have kids and need the type that act as steps as well. Thoughts on Rugged Ridge vs Olympic vs Smittybilt ...or any others that people have positive/negative experience with? Many thanks.

Body Armor JK-4121 - Body Armor Rockcrawler Side Guards for 07-10 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

I kind of like the looks of these from Body Armor. I have the same question as you. Curious what others think. I was thinking about side rails at first, but the prices may be only slightly lower for them and you appear to get beefier and more protective steps if you go with the rock rails/sliders.

I have a friend that has the Smittybilt units with the extra loop/step thingy.

My impression of them was that they looked solid, provided a bit of a perch for assisting entry, but might extend a bit far down and eat up some clearance.
On price-point, they're a bargain but I wouldn't use them unless you have enough lift to compensate for them.

My wife is 5ft 2in. I bought a small step stool which I keep in the back for when she is wearing a dress. Otherwise, step up honey....she loves me. As I do her! I have the stock rock rails for the Rubi.

excellent work jk'n ...and thanks for the responses. Not sure this is where I want to start in the long and enjoyable process of Jeep-building. Just excited to get started.

My wife is also 5'2" and has made it clear we need side steps. I made a step stool/foot rest for my last truck and I don't have to read between the lines that isn't going to cut it with the Jeep! So I'm going to go with something just to keep the Jeep $$$ flowing.

They are called JK-RIGRIP and I got them from Canada via ebay.. see here
Shipping is a bit costly... But I can tell you they are very sturdy and do the job very well..
Also they will not interfere whilst entering or leaving the Jeep..
Hope this helps...

People are buying these to do the same thing with. Think I may try this route just for cost reasons. A decent step and those handles looks like the ticket.

I have the Mopar Side Steps that came with my 2-Dr. They're Rubberized or Non-Skid, which my 5'2" Wife appreciates, when she's trying to get into my Jeep.

Regarding Grab Handles, I bought these a few months ago, when they had a Sale on them. Even now at $39, they're still a GREAT deal! Six Grab Handles per kit, to fit key spots on your Rig!

Cheers!

Those safari straps look to be the sweet deal of all time! For that price, you can't go wrong. Now, all I need is to find the same deal on some rocker guard/side steps!

I've heard that slowing down for her would also help.
