Roof rack

I need cargo space and can't afford a cargo trailer, does anyone have this rack? If so is it any good?

Op do you have a trailer hitch receiver? If so look at the racks that mount
into the receiver.

I agree it looks pretty wimpy. All great advice, thanks I've looked at the hitch mount racks they are only good up to 50lbs, craigs list, in my area anyway, doesn't have anything small or priced right, but I will expand my area and maybe get something that way.
Thanks

Harbor Freight has a 500lb capacity cargo carrier that fits in a hitch for $50 w/coupon. Get a good rubbermade container and some straps and you're good to go!

If you did go with this, you might want to add some cross-member on the top. I don't see anything that's keeping those bars vertical, or even parallel with each other?

Same here. I have the one from Harbor Freight that's rated to 500 lbs and its great. Can fit two pretty big coolers on it with other stuff bunjied on top.

Only thing is that I think my 4 door has a 350 lb tongue weight, so doesn't that mean that you can only put 350 on it?

don't know the cost, check MBRP.com or Quadratec

There are absolutely stronger racks out there. But they require drilling and front bars at the windshield.

The idea of the Bestop Overhead rack is a lightweight rack with no drilling, easily removed, easily installed. We find that a LOT of JK owners do not want to drill into their tops or body.

It holds up to 150 pounds, which is about as much as you really want to be putting way up high.

Bumper hitch racks are an inexpensive option, and work well for paved vacation travel. They are not great if you're hitting back roads. And, no matter what the weight rating of the rack is, you can't really put a huge amount of weight sticking out the back of your Jeep. 500 pounds back there might lift your tires off the ground.

That looks really nice, I'm going to get this one or similar for my hard top but I need something in the summer when I use the soft top.

Yea, photto-, thats the main drawback for the MBRP, it makes taking the top off--EASY--, but then you're rackless !!

It's OK for me, cause I keep the jeep in the desert and there's no need to go topless !!

OK sorry, I must have misread something, I see the hitch rack limit now and that would be more than sufficient.
Thanks everyone, I'm glad to hear the hitch type works well, that will be perfect and cheep for now.
Thanks again.......

Got a hitch rack at pepboys for 50$, it was miss-marked, My lucky day. I used it on our 700 mile road trip through PA, it worked MUCH better than I anticipated.
