Rough Country vs. OME

Which 2.5 coil lift would be better. I would like to hear from some people who have them. Any problems with either?

well i have done the research and its pretty obvious people think ome is better. But better how? ride, life expectancy, ? The only thing that i dont like about OME is that their lifts arent a set height. It is all relative to what you have on your jeep. I will have a stock 4dr sahara soon and only want 2.5 inches of lift. Any one know what sptings i should go with? i was thinking 618 and 619.

the ome springs are supposed to ride real smooth, and have different spring rates depending on ur need, softer for a more comfy ride, or a lil stiffer to keep from sagging with the weight of off road bumpers and tire carriers and stuff.

I know that OME springs are made in Australia. I have an OME lift and like it.. If you go for OME be sure go get the NitroCharger shocks as well.. They are designed to work well with the respective OME springs..

I had rough country coils on my XJ and let me tell you. there is a reason why they are called "ROUGH" country.

I'll be honest, I thought this thread was a joke. Kinda like, what's better - Jeep Wrangler or Hyundai Tuscon?

I have talked to A LOT of people. I'm aware that everyone says OME is better and I trust enough that they are right, but i want to know why. Everyone just throws out an opinion and it is of no help. I want facts, I want to hear what went wrong with other lifts. Saying OME is sweet and RC sucks doesn't really tell me anything. It's getting kind of old.

Maybe I was being a little too hopeful.

I prefer BDS but if i had to chose between the two i'd pick OME.

I see you just want a lift for now and if you ever go wheelin and the Jeep bug bites you, you'll appreciate that extra height OME brings.I only have 2" lift but probable lost half of that after adding bumper and winch.

Maybe I should restate the question and be more specific.

Has anyone had any problems with OME lifts?

I've had NOTHING BUT problems with the RC lift on Briana's JK. The coils were replaced once under warranty for sagging, then I had my service dept. install the replacements JUST IN CASE my dumb arse was SOMEHOW the cause of the issue (so the idiots at RC couldn't call shenanigans if I had more problems), and within a WEEK, the rear was sagging again. This, on a 2-door base model, stock bumpers, softtop, no more than Briana, myself, and a dog ever in it! Inexcusable.
I will say, their customer service was good, but it seemed as if they were used to dealing with this issue- practice?
Go OME and NEVER look back Mark W.

Only those who have driven Jeeps with both these lifts can make the judgement you are looking for.. Most of us can only share their own experience with the one they have..
I only had a OME lift..
1) I like the ride and stability
2) No, I never had an issue
3) Shocks are very important as they are matched with the kit to assure good spring frequency...(not too caddy and not too harsh)
4) As stated before these springs are Made in Australia. I am sure they have a well established Quality Manufacturing Process control.

Do any of you have a JK 4 door with OME on it? What coils did you use, and what amount of lift did you get? That's the information I would really like to find! They claim 2.5 but i have heard that they range all the way up passed 4 sometimes. I definitely don't want that much. Let me know!

What about Rock Krawler vs OME? The last thread I was following had a lot of good things to say about Rock Krawler. I'm in the market for a lift and lucky for me, I have a lot of time before I can afford one. In that time I'll have a lot of questions and do a lot of research.

Its always personal preference. I prefer a company that stands behind their product. Plus I like to support the vender's that support the Jeep web sites. Easier to talk to the people that make/sell the product if there ever is a problem

Teraflex IS a great company- I've had nothing but good experiences with them, and their products. Only issue I have is their zerk fittings tend to come off nice and easy when attacked by rocks! Mark W.

So, the question becomes: Has OME been begging out of their responsibility to support their suspension kits?....anybody?

OME claims that their price is low because they don't overcharge for their product so that they can do fancy advertising. So you not noticing them supporting jeep web sites goes hand in hand with what they claim. Would you rather pay closer to what the product costs to manufacture with some cost in there for the manufacturer and supplier or a lot of added dollars for advertising?

Oh no- OME stands behind their stuff. Warranty replacement takes a bit, unless they drop ship it via Q-tec or another warehouse supplier. They're good folks- did one of their lifts for a customer on a JK, and one on an older Yota- Mark W.
