RR Unlimited PowerTop: A solution to a question noone's been asking?

Jeep Wrangler Power Top by Rugged Ridge

At first glance it's pretty snazzy... But, with a $5,000 price tag, I'd be interested to know who the intended market is. I can think of a lot better things to do with $5k than save myself the 5 minutes (including rolling windows) hassle of changing the soft top. Especially for a demographic that is notoriously of the DIY breed...

Cool none the less...

Yeah, 5K, no thanks. I would rather get a pair of PR44 or something

Threads on here from last year...I have yet to hear of a single person, on this or any other Jeep forum, who has bought one.

Bet it leaks like crazy.

Yep, it's been chatted about quite a bit:

My comments from those threads:

Even though Rugged Ridge tops aren't known to be great (leak-free/durable), I'd expect this to be very expensive. And it would be very frustrating to pay high-end top prices (Bestop+) only to get a mediocre top, even if it comes with a motor.

Beyond that, can you raise/lower the top even if the motor burns out? How much trunk space is lost? Aren't we going to miss the rear side windows? Can you replace the fabric without replacing the motor? Can you replace the motor without replacing the fabric? What (if any) safety precautions are built-in in the event my toddlers push the button?

No doubt a good idea, but I'm dubious it's going to be executed well right out of the gate . . . or perhaps ever. If they pull it off though, it'll be huge.
And it turns out the cost is way up there. As in, Wild Boar Hardtop prices. That's nuts. And the blindspots generated from the absence of rear windows must be maddening.

It could turn into a desirable accessory for folks with disabilities or a small women perhaps. But otherwise, I can think of a lot of other things most jeepers would do with $5k. I'm not sure RR is going to come out ahead on this one. We'll see.
