Rubicon 4 door colors

My wife and I recently started looking at the 4 door jeeps. We both really like the Rubicon. She likes how it looks in black but I think that would be waaay too hot for Texas summers and I had a black truck before that felt like you could literaly fry eggs. We both like grey that seems to be new for 2010Rubicon. I actually like the Rock Red burgandy color. I also like the silver. Does anyone have any color advice for a jeep seeker. How come I never see green? Thanks.

Welcome to WF. The Red Rock is a great looking color. I wish the dealer had that color when I bought mine.

We must have all the green ones out here then cuz there in no short supply. I have a black TJ Rubi and I love it, but as you know, black shows every little scratch . . . the grey/silver hides the scratches so well, it would be tempting to go with that if I had to do it over again.

Red rock was my 1st choice color. Dealer went 200 miles to get it. I like everything else about it too. Have fun looking.

I've got a few pinstripes from 6 hours on a serious trail in the woods in NH. Can't really see them. What color would show them up the most? Black?

Black was my first choice until I saw the Red Rock. Love it.

Another thing about black - we noticed that when you have the black hard top, it looks too monotone. You can hardly tell its a jeep from the side, at least in the 4 door. You can't see any contrast because everything is black. This is why I like the silver and red rock. We drove by the lot and saw a few from the road. The red rock looked awesome and she liked it too. She liked when it looked dark but it worried how it looks during the day. She doesn't like bright red. We will try to look at one during the day this weekend. It might be 6 months before we get one and I can't wait to start posting. Is this the best jeep forum?

I haven't seen one of the green ones yet but it's first on my list. Hoping to buy in Feb/March.

Well, the moderators do try and keep it friendly and helpful around here. It is noticeable because other sites can get a little like the wild wild west. Anyhow I like it here.

Yep. Black is, by far, the most striking color on a vehicle... when clean. But it shows every little spec of dirt, blemish and scratch you can imagine. Dings look ten times worse on a clean black car. But that will not keep me from buying one... the wife's GL is black, my DD is silver and my Wrangler is silver. Not very creative, am I?

Is is crazy to want the Rubicon because I like the name lol?

Any other regrets with black? Does anyone else agree that it looks too monotone because the fenders and back are also black? Doesn't it get too hot? Wife still is liking the black.

I like this site so far... I've been on and off the computer all morning.

Not crazy . . . but you'd fit right in with the Yuppies out here that spend thousands extra on a Rubi, cuz it has cooler wheels and that nifty hood sticker. It worked for me as I bought my Rubi used from a Mercedes dealership . . . it was obvious that it'd never touched the dirt and it didn't have a single mark on it . . . it was prestine! If you plan to actually get out and wheel the thing, Rubicon all the way, but otherwise it's a waste.

If you buy the Rubicon and never wheel it, it won't go to waste. Either the second owner, or third, or fourth....will eventually tear into that thing, jack it up, and wheel it out. All good jeeps usually wheel it eventually. The older it gets, the more likely it is that somebody may invest in the goodies required to make it more versatile on the trail.

Ok just back from mowing the lawn, now I have to respond to the yuppie comment. Heck I am a working man here. My first truck was a 4x4 nissan hardbody so I understand off roading. For now we are really looking for a jeep to go to the mountains or at least north of Austin (including kid). It looks like you can get the unlimited Sahara 4x4 with everything that the Rubicon has. I guess you are paying for the name. I still like the red rock color. I can't find any of the new gray exterior color anywhere within 200 miles.

The name, the skid plates, the heavy duty suspension, the 4:1 gears, the heavy duty axles, the remote locking differentials, the remote sway bar release, the uber sound system, the built in GPS, the DVD player, did I miss anything...oh yah, the name did I already say that?

All about the classic "Flame Red" imo. Ever since my friend across the street got a Red Jeep Wrangler Powerwheel when I was about 6, I wanted one just like his...Now I'm a few years older and would surely break a powerwheel if i got in it...but I still got my Red "Powerwheel" Only its not run off of a rechargeable car battery but good ole 87 gas

Welcome Aboard, Shipmate!

1. I'm assuming you're in Austin? I'm in New Braunfels. Always glad to have another Texan onboard! If you're looking to go Off-Road in your area, try Hidden Falls Adventure Park, about six miles East of Marble Falls. They have trails rated from 1-6. Check them out at:

Hidden Falls (Link)

and their Trail Map:

Trail Map (Link)

2. The Sahara would be closer to the X/Sport Model, rather than the Rubicon. As JK'N pointed out above, the Rubicon has the upgraded Suspension, and also noted that GolfSpaz mentioned the Dana 44 Axles Front and Back. The X's/Sport's/Sahara's have the Dana 30 up Front, and the Dana 44's in the Rear. The Sahara's have more "Bling", in the way of Cosmetic Upgrades, such as the Body Color Fenders, and I believe... Soft Top, rather than the Hard Top. Also, it has those big-arsed 18" Wheels, rather than the 17" of the X's/Sport's/Rubicon's.

3. If you both agree on a color, but can't find it, "ORDER IT!" I've seen a few folks already receiving their 2010 orders within a month. One Gent on here, just received his 2010 Charcoal-Gray 2-Dr today. So, they are out on the streets already. If you're going to wait six months to buy one, may as well Order the one you REALLY want! Have you thought about the Dual Top option as well? Might be something to consider, depending on what your needs are.

Best of Luck!

Cheers!

BB

Worked out great for me . . . the PO paid top dollar for it new . . . and did nothing to it other than baby it. What I saved buying it used I was able to use on mods!!!

You're only paying for the name if you don't use it like a lot of the guys out here that buy a Rubicon for the status and hood sticker, never planning to take it off road, and having no clue as to what even makes it a Rubicon. IMHO, the Rubicon is the best mass produced out of the box off-road vehicle, but what's the point if your not going to use it. When I first got mine, my sister-in-law made a comment about my Rubicon and how I shouldn't take it off road . . . I looked at her with scorn in my eyes and asked "why in the hell would I buy a Rubicon if I didn't want to take it off road . . . that's the whole point" . . . fu@kin' yuppie!!!

I gotta say my personal preference is the new dark blue color. I think its called deep water blue or something like that. I have also seen a light blue showing up lately but the deep water blue is a gorgeous color. especially on a RUBI-u

Dang......blasting the black guys as usual... :P LOL..... (HAHA)

Been a while, fellas ----- thought I would venture back for a nice winter rest on WF.com ----

I agree with the black looking great, but it is a BEAR to maintain and does it ever show all of the scratches and slight marks. I wouldn't change my mind unless maybe if they actually had a Red Rock in stock when I purchased. I got in -just- before the "bankruptcy" earlier this year & got a sweet deal on the Jeep.

Best looking Jeep IMHO when clean & I have nearly 5000 miles on her so far. (Been on 1 Jamboree so far, limited mods!)

Here is a pic earlier this year when pretty new ----- Raingler nets were my first "mod" at the time.
