Rubicon "how to" break in video

Brings a tear to my eye. I bought my JK brand new and hit up Uwharrie 3 weeks later.

How much water entered his floor board you think from this? Nothing like stinking water to get rid of that new Jeep smell quick.

No clue, but I'm sure something was wet.

I also broke in my last JKU with 268 miles on it at Uwharrie. Took a weeks worth of pressure washing to get all the dirt off. And I learned my lesson to keep the top on when it's really dry out. Uwharrie dust was in every nook and cranny inside. Nothin says lovin like some good Uwharrie dust clogging up your nostrils.

Yep you live and you learn. Those access roads around URE that connect you to all of the trails are nothing but dust pretty much. Check your air filter now that your back from wheeling there. I took mine there with 30 day tags on it and the air filter was almost toast after returning. You don't want things to not get the air they need.

That's actually my video (my black TJ is behind him), and the guy with the JK is Moscoeb on the forum.

He did get wet inside, but not too bad. Removed the carpets and let them dry, pulled the drain plugs, and he was good to go.

Did you guys happen to pull the hood and check his engine after that crossing? I remember how pretty and black the whole engine bay was before I first went through water/mud that was almost that deep. Definitely enough to submerge the engine. It covered everything and even looks a light brown now after 2 years and being cleaned.

Yup. That was back in 2010 with the JKU. Now I have a 2012 JKR that has yet to be broken in. That will change this Saturday at Uwharrie! Hoping there's some good mud there.

Nope on the 2nd rubi. It was him, me, and another guy in an XJ that didn't fare so well. Moscoe went 1st.

Actually we got so little water it was just enough to dirty the carpet, nothing substantial, the seals held surprisingly well

Ya, my engine compartment is stained no matter how much I scrub and clean. But we do have a decent amount of mud where we go wheeling.

We had come through that way previously and now were heading back out. So it wasn't the first time through there, and I didn't go through first on the initial time through. So I was pretty confident we were going to be ok. I was concerned for the upswell of water created on the upstream side since my airbox was now upstream. But we were all good! It was a little nerve racking, but nothing like getting that first mud inside and pinstripes to help you relax a little!
The rubi did great stock, I was pleasantly surprised.

I applaud your brave adventures as mine would never see fording like that. I can't even stand getting caught in the rain let alone submerging my ride in 3+ feet of water.

Thanks for sharing.

No worries, I got a lift on her and saving for 35's. Won't even be close next time! Then I'll have to get a snorkel because I'll be unstoppable!
