Rubicon Springs question

Just purchased a new 2013 2 door x. I have read through all the threads about swapping out the springs and i know in a lot of cases there is not much of a advantage. But I think what my jeep came with and the set of Rubi springs i have it may give me a inch or so. Here is what I have and if someone could advise me I would appreciate it.

Front 6313 Rubi are 6318
Rear 4255 Rubi are 4459

Thanks Mickey

Yes. Probably an inch or more.

Those aren't "rubicon springs," though. There is no such thing as "Rubicon springs." Many 2 door Rubicons come with the same springs you have on your Sport.

What you have are probably best described as "4 door springs." Most 4 doors come with stiffer coils than the 2 doors to compensate for the extra weight.

That's why this whole approach really only works for 2 doors. Most 4 door springs are very close to the highest rated available, or are just a smidge off--like the ones you're considering.

I just did a swap, I had 13/57 and installed 18/59 gained 1 1/2" front and 3/4 rear. It leveled it up nicely.

There is no set amount you'll gain from 4 door to 2 door springs. It depends on what options you have. I have a very basic Sport soft top w/ no towing package and gained 2.25" going from 14/55s to 18/59s.

What are your overall goals of doing this? Lift? Stiffer ride?

Lift, stiffer ride and larger tires. Just ordered 5 AEV Pintler wheels Silver. Going to put General Grabber AT2 33/12.50/17 tires.

My jeep is black

PS, just went up town to get a subway, while the wife was inside getting the sandwich, a grandma pulled up REAL close to my jeep (she had plenty of rm because there were plenty open space on the other side) her granddaughter slammed open her door into my new jeep and dent it. No Sorry or Kiss my butt or anything!

That sucks! I guess you could've got her info...

You will definitely get a stiffer ride and probably 2" of lift. Here's my b/f and after pics. http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/2-d...cs-212207.html

You're set up should be okay for those tires, but the amount of lift may determine if you'll rub. I'm sure someone else will chime in...good luck.

Where in MS are you? My mom used to live in Pass Christian.

I'm about 60 miles south of Jackson, (Monticello). I about to order a set of Rancho 9000 shocks. That should soften of the ride some. Thanks for the pictures nice looking Jeep.

This is my second JK, had a 08 that i put a lot of money in, was never happy with the power. This is big improvement in power, other than that everything seems about the same.

Thanks. What are the last two digits of your coils if they are 17/57 or higher, you can sell them on the forum easily.

That or Rubi takeoffs should help a Sport. I was gonna offer to help, but Jackson is too far from baton rouge.

A set of Ace rock rails will help prevent others from opening their door into yours.

I can't wait to get a set myself. I just switched my side steps for Rubi rails last night.

I'm doing this same swap as well, you'll gain at least 0.25" per increase in spring number, that's an increase of least 1.25" in the front and 1.0" in the rear.

Some have reported gains as high as 0.4" per part number, which will gain you 2" front and 1.6" rear. Or, you might be somewhere in between.

No Sahara step or rock rails of any kind?

You saw this happen? If I did, then all I'd see are $$$$. They be payin'.

This is exactly why I park away from everyone. People have absolutely no common courtesy or respect, or brains for that matter. Look where you're opening your doors, a##holes.

Some way I gained 0.5 per number. I'm an anamoly. I measured again tonight and I'm not (too) dumb.

I thought of this as well. Makes sense doesn't it?

That's true. But if I had no options other than to park next to an old hooptie or a new Audi, I'd park next to the Audi. When you can't prevent something, it's all about reducing the probability.

Thanks for the help everybody. I am loving this jeep, best fun vehicle I've every owned and I have owned a bunch. Also I think it is the best buy today in a vehicle for what you get.
