Rugged Ridge Front Skid Plate Grinding ?? WTF

I am not happy about grinding down part of the front cross member on my 2011 Rubicon to make this fit tight. Does anyone know if I am voiding any sort of warranty on my vehicle if I take a grinder to it? I would assume so.

Any suggestions on a different front skid plate that would mount better (no Grinding) and also look good with my XHD bumper?

I didn't grind on mine and it fits pretty good. There's a bit of a gap between the skid and bumper but functionally it's fine. I can't imagine it would have any effect on your warranty.

I actually was thinking about grinding the skid plate instead.

I didn't grind anything on my 2010. I also didn't elongate the one bolt hole on the skid plate. It mounts stout. In fact, I checked it today when I changed the oil.

I guess I have to decide if I want it flush to the bumper or about 1/2" gap..

I'm leaving the gap for now. I really don't want to take the dang bumper off again to unbolt the skid from the crossmember anytime soon.

I went for the flush look. It was a real beast trying to get all the holes lined up on the support bracket and hold the plate in place. Especially underneath the Sway bar motor. I ended up having to mount the front hole first then smack with a sledge hammer and finally got them lined up. Nice product but my learning experience with RR is that nothing they make is a simple install... Everything needs some tweaking. You would think they would have this down to a science.
