Rugged Ridge Quick release Mirror

Has anyone purchased this mirror from Rugged Ridge via quadratec?

Rugged Ridge 11025.11 - Rugged Ridge Quick Release Mirror for 97-11 Jeep® Wrangler TJ, JK, TJ Unlimted & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

Here in NY, we only need an inside mirror and the drivers side mirror.
I purchased ONE, and it only fits the passenger side, based upon the bend of the "adjustable" arm. If you look at the picture for purchasing TWO mirrors, they have the same bend. You can try and take this mirror arm and turn it upside down, but it still doesn't fit the drivers side.
Their website does not specify sides.

To answer your question, the two mirrors work perfectly fine on each side of the vehicle. Each mirror can be mounted so the arm bends upward. The arms are identical. It's a little hard to explain but the base of the arm where the thumb screw is attached can be rotated so that the arm bends upward for each side before it is tightened down by the thumb screw.

if you want door off mirrors, go to a harley davidson dealer, and look at the "stock oem" mirrors, the stem of the mirrors fit right into the pin hole for your door. you can get them in black or chrome, and you get 2 for around 40 bucks. i know it was not what you where asking but i thought i would throw it out there for you.

I did call quadratec customer service. Seems they have been getting a lot of calls about this mirror. He said it can be used on either side like you said scolumbo, BUT just that one points up and the other points down. He said it had to do with some issue about the windshield. I think they just have a design flaw, or they dont want to have 2 different mirror arms. Either way, sounds like a copout.

Well, since he already owns this mirror, it's very easy to get it mounted properly. Besides, IMO this mirror is far superior to the Harley mirrors (I've used both).

The guy at quadratec doesn't know what he's talking about. Go look at your mirror arm detached from the bracket. Rotate the base and you can see that the arm can be positioned on either side bending upward.

Kinda off topic, but I got the doors off my 2011 JK in about 5 minutes. Got them sitting in my garage on old seat cushions and bubble wrapped.

Scolumbo..you're saying the arm can be rotated at the base where the bushings are ? I gotta see this tonight...I am pretty sure the arm is fixed to the bushings.

Just so you don't think I'm talking out of my arse, here is the mirror mounted on the driver's side. The same mirror can be mounted on the passenger side by rotating the base.

Nope, the base rotates. I have it sitting right in front of me as I'm typing.

I have the Rugged Ridge Quick Release Mirrors also, and yes as scolumbo indicated, the bushing rotates. Remove the arm from the bracket and rotate the bushing 90 degrees from its shipped orientation, and the arm will then bend upwards when mounted on the driver side. The instructions that come with it also mentions this, but in not so many words.

Yah, the Quadratec guy you talked to is clueless. That'd be incredibly lame if they worked the way he described.

I have a friend who has these and they work fine on both driver/pass sides.

I am looking at a part of these rugged ridge. Thanks for the discussion here.

Alternatively, has anyone considered the Lange mirrors? Any thoughts on one vs. the others? What about overall brand quality?

I am still confused on this one.

I got the set and they are identical like mentioned above in this thread. The passenger side works great but the drivers side does not match up and look symmetrical to the passenger side. If you stand in front of the Jeep and look at both, it doesn't look the same.

Even if you rotate it at the base like some of you guys have done, you can't still get it to match the look on the passenger side, can you?

Don't you need to have a "Right" and a "Left" so they look symmetrical?

I love this mirror on mine. It has better visibility than a smaller motorcycle mirror...and takes 5 seconds to put on when I take the doors off.

If you rotate the bushing, they will look identical on each side. The only difference might be how far in toward the body you mount the mirror on each side to get the best visibility, but the upward bend will look identical.

I've had these mirrors for over a year, and I still think they are great. Much better than the Harley mirrors I was using. I decided to change out the flat mirror on the passenger side for this 5" convex mirror for even better visibility.

Interesting. I don't know why they're unavailable from Quadratec, but evidently RR is still making them:

I had a motorcycle mirror friction fit nicely on my YJ, but the arm was too skinny for it to fit on the JK the same way. I recently bought a pair of the RR mirrors for $49.95 from Morris 4x4 and installed 1 on my JK and the other replaced a long broken mirror on my CJ5. Very nice product, like the foam foam backing on the bracket. I'm puzzled my the installation difficulties some are having. My explanation would only cloud the waters further.

Can you leave these mirrors on when the doors are on? That'd be super convenient if so!

I haven't tried yet, but evidently you can, if you take the factory mirrors off the doors. I still have filler plates from my RR relocation brackets that I don't use, so I will probably give it a try. There's another thread around here that shows some Jeepers that have done this.

edit: found the other thread with some pics with the doors on.

I use these mirrors for my full soft doors. Since my doors can swing open all the way they hit the mirror sometimes but its no big deal. I am pretty sure with full doors on, the doors will be able to fully open and not hit the mirror as long as its positioned properly. A 5 $ set of convex mirrors make these a lot more useful.

Love mine, and yes they stay on when the doors are on. I got filler plates and took the factory mirrors off the doors so I don't have to switch back and forth. They work great!

It also took me a while to figure out how to mount the driver's side....finally figured it out when I took the whole thing apart and was able to rotate the arm where it fits into the mounting bracket!

Google them, I think I found mine on Ebay or Amazon....

I was at home, so I decided to try it out with the doors on. I had to make a small adjustment with the positioning of the mirrors so the doors could fully open, but not a problem.

It will make taking the doors off even faster, and I like the retro look of the round mirrors anyway. Storing the doors without factory mirrors should also be easier.

I love this Forum!

Thanks for the pics. I need to try out the "Rotating the arm" thing on the drivers side to make it look symmetrical.

Hey sunnykk,
Off-topic to this thread, but you inspired me to relocate my trail rated badge to the tail gate. Thanks for the idea.
