Read threads on both bumpers. Both get great reviews. But after you buy end caps and a hoop for the RR bumper you're double the price of the Barricade. So what's the difference? Just the thickness of the steel used? I'd like to hear from people who have either bumper maybe even had both. I know there's threads on each but I'd like to know which you would or have bought and why. Thank you.
I have the rugged ridge, just finished the install about a week ago. I went with RR because of the "mini stinger". I've got plans to mount lights on it that I think will be pretty cool when funds and time permit. Perhaps I missed the Barricade in my hunting, because the only two I saw that were the style I wanted and had the fog lights integrated (something I definitely wanted) was the RR and another by Hanson which was actually more. Here are a few pics of mine installed. My winch is on order so that huge hole will be filled in shortly:
On a side note, and regardless of which direction you decide to go, make sure to shop around. Most vendors offer price matching (Extreme Terrain, Quadratec, etc...). Use google search, throw in the manufacturers part number and click on shopping, then pick up the phone and get a price match from the vendor of your choice. I saved more than 20% total price, and got everything from my favorite vendor just by spending a little extra time and picking up the phone
And finally, don't forget that RR is offering the mail in rebate right now too!
Man that looks freaking awesome! I'm looking for the full width end caps though and the hoop over the top. So it'll look a lot like the Barricade. Love the Blue D rings. Choices choices lol!
The Speakers and winch should fit just fine on either bumper. The JWS fogs are designed to fit in the same opening as the factory fogs, which is the same opening that is on the RR bumper. And that winch isn't particularly over-sized and has the same foot print as most others so you'll be fine there. Let me know if you'd like a quote on anything or if you have any questions!
From the pics in this thread it looks like it might have issues with the Rubicon Edisco. Can anyone confirm? Looks like some cutting might needed to be done on the bumper.
I had to cut mine and mine is a 2014 JKU sport but it took me 30 seconds with an angle grinder and the relocation of the pump took 10 extra minutes max....It really was not bad at all, just remember to put rustoleum paint on the bare metal to prevent the formation of rust.
Well you didn't ask me, but I'll tell you my experience with the XHD. I didn't measure before I removed the stock bumper. I did measure with no bumper and then with the XHD installed, and the front dropped 3/4 inch. The difference between stock and XHD should be less than that, but a winch would drop it more too. I did install the teraflex leveling kit after and it looks much better. Without the leveling kit the rake was very obvious. .
I installed the stock fog lights in the bumper and I didn't really notice any difference from the stock bumper. Eventually I'd like to upgrade the fogs to something better.
I'll give some advice to anyone installing the XHD winch bumper. When you relocate the vacuum pump, make sure it doesn't interfere with the fog light plug-in. I didn't and had to relocate the pump twice. If you're moving it to under the hood, then you don't have to worry about this.
I have the same wheels. Its an American Racing AX194 Ravine or ATX194 Ravine. On their website it says AX and on the other pic they have ATX. I think its one of the best looking wheels for the JK.
2CAV, I have also an ANVIL colored jk with same wheels as yours. Im thinking of getting the same bumpers too as they look really good. Whats yours review on this bumper after a year of ownership?
Thanks guys! I thought they were AR, but had a heck of a time trying to find them on their site. I have a friend that may be able to get me a discount, so I'm happy to get on with my search. I love the pintlers in argent, but the price, not so much
I noticed there is a 17 x 8.5 5.14 bs, and a 17x9 with 4.53 bs. I'm probably not going to run anything bigger than 285/70. Just wondering what would work the best for me...
