Are pearl coats still tough to get?

So they do away with NGP, then bring it back? I had to go halfway across the country to find an NGP with the features I wanted because they stopped making them and "started" making BFG (by "started" I mean it took months, as BFG owners can attest).

How hard is it to have a few industry standard colors - black, silver, white; then a few Jeep standard colors - red, green, blue; then offer customers custom paint for whatever the cost to setup? Calculate what it costs to set up a custom spray room, and offer a few dozen custom colors - at an increased price, obviously. Maybe instead of an extra $200 for paint like on normal "specialty colors" it might be $800, but folks would jump on it - not just WF folks, either. Not knowing the numbers (but knowing there's significant cost attached to setting up something like that), it might be a higher price, but folks would probably be willing to pay for it.

It's Chrysler's 5th highest selling vehicle, and Jeep's second, you'd think they could do something along those lines.

Really? You might be right, was it pricing that we got around 07/04? I just remember being on vaca and giving the wifey money to use at the casino in green bay so I could post the info.

Hopefully the tan sold so well and so quickly that they will decide to bring it back. I hardly see any tan jeeps on the road and there are none left at the dealers. I am hoping they will think it is a "hot" color that will make them a profit to produce. I missed out on the 2012 and really want one...

Yep, took forever to find out what the heck we were all going to pay for our blind-ordered Wranglers!

And, here's a "blast from the past," your post revealing the 2012 order opening date on the epic "June 2nd" thread:

Do colors normally get released prior to the start of ordering?

Colors are set to be announced on June 6th. Based on the rest of this convo in this thread, in prior years, you could also start placing orders on June 6th, but you won't know the pricing until in July, and I'm not sure when they begin being built.

My '99 was Desert Sand, which was a metallic tan/gold. Loved that color (great dirt hider, almost as good as silver), and would love to see it come back.....

Seems weird... 3 blues and 2 reds, but no oranges or yellows...?
Where did you read this? I hope you are right.. Dark Charcoal Pearl is my fav.. Can't wait to order my 2013 Diesel in this color!

I can't remember where I read that list... But I wrote it down, because I have two friends wanting 2012s or possibly waiting on 2013s if the colors are right. I agree with what many have said. We need a good orange, yellow and green in the lineup... Silver, black, red and white will probably never go away.

I question the list myself simply because white isn't listed... has there ever been a year without white?

It cost 10's of 1,000's to change paint plus they have to keep a color in the plant until the last one leaves the rail yard. Just in case it needs a touch up. Also, they need to master a paint and harmonize that color between suppliers, this can take a few weeks to get it batched out, well planned first then batched. Fenders and tops aren't painted in house, Suppliers sequence them in just in time.

I like your idea though, and , maybe all this color changing is to see what tones and mixtures are most popular. They could build the Body's in white but then they'd either have to be completed in white, or another assembly line built. Which is Millions, that millions divided by only q few thousand custom orders per year is expensive per order.

I like the looks of this list better than the one I had posted earlier... I was hoping Natural Green Pearl wasn't coming back. Keeps mine a little unique as I don't see many of them around here...

Natural Green Pearl was a great color. I didn't appreciate it until it was gone and replaced with Black Forest Green. My neighbor (2 doors over) has a silver 2011 GC, and his best friend who is always over has a 2012 GC in BFG. It is always parked out front, and for the longest of time, I thought it was black until I walked passed it on a really sunny day. We ended up talking about new Jeeps for a good bit of time.

I wonder what the new green looks like? I hope it is more......serious....

Billet Metallic sounded interesting until I realized that it's probably just a name for a barely changed silver.

Polynesian Green sounds exotic. I hope it's not too out there. Like just about everyone else, I'd like to see a more traditional green back in the line-up.

Here is Billet Metallic...
Sometimes it looks grey, sometimes sliver.

I curious about the new green....but the name makes me think "bright and tropical". A green version of Cosmos Blue or something.

I think the polynesian green will be somewhat close to the gecko. Maybe not as neon, but still bright.

I searched the internets for polynesian green and here's what I got....

Polynesian Green WA5299/46U Touch Up Paint for 1993 Pontiac Lemans

Seafoam green....

Please don't let this be what we get. Looks like I will have to wait it out for that Billet Metallic.

Where did this come from?
I will take bets Polynesian and Black Forest Green don't make it. Black Forest is building out right now, how could it be a 2013 Color?

This is apparently GM's polynesian green. o.O

But... this is a more modern version of the color for GM:
