Running 35 inch tires, 3 or 4 inch lift? long arm or short arm?

so I got my 2008 JK I know I want to run 35 inch tires but I'm debating between a 3 or 4 inch lift i want a decent center of gravity for on road driving since this will be my main commuter but also I want good articulation for when I go off roading with out any rubbing. I know having a 3 inch lift will clear the tire but a friend told me that he wouldn't go any lower than a 4 inch lift, I know I want to go with a Teraflex lift kit and steering stabilizer and control arms front and rear adjustable trackbars and bilstein 5100 shocks. I would also like to add if any of you recommend the 4 inch lift I would like to question your opinions on a long arm kit or regular control arms? If I need a front or rear driveshafts state that also

You'll need driveshafts and a lot of other stuff to do a 4" lift right. 2.5 in lift will clear 35s easily. You can get 35s on a stock jk with flat fenders and properly backspaces wheels. Idk if your friend has an older model jeep but the jks can clear 35s much easier. A 4" lift is good for 37s but 2.5 and 35s is the best looking IMO. Use the search bar and search what your looking for. Many pictures and threads about this already, start reading and ask questions after you think you made a set decision

I was at 2.5" now at 3.25" on 35s no issues at all with either height, on or off road. I am however bumping up to a 4" LA Rancho (I won it at Jeepbeach this past weekend) and I'm replacing my front drive shaft when I upgrade, along with few other parts.

My friend has the same year as me 2008 but he has an auto tranny and I have a manual I forgot to mention that

I have a 3" lift with 35's. I have to say if you need articulation on the trail, it isn't enough with stock fender flares. I broke my rear flare and knocked loose both front flares. I am sure it is fine for Mall Crawler rigs but not for trail IMO. So it leaves you with two options. Either go to a 4" left and replace driveshaft or go with 3" lift and get new fender flares like flat fenders to give more clearance.

How about a lot of flex, 35" tires, metal cloak 3.5 " dual rate kit ARB edition. Metal cloak fenders, factory drive shaft

It all comes down to what trails you plan on running. 2.5" tera will clear 35's and comes with proper bump stops to keep from ripping off fenders. Its designed for mild to moderate trails unless you have a Rubicon.
The 3.5 aev dual sport is a great short arm for moderate trails, decent flex and fantastic on road ride and handling. A tera long arm is designed for a great on road ride and moderate to hard wheeling. The tera fox shocks are really nice with the long arm. And the aev bilstiens work really well with their kit.
Both will give you plenty of clearance for 35's.
Good choice on the manual.

I am about to. I had a PSC BFH on order but morris 4x4 backordered it, wont get my money back till friday. didnt really feel like ordering off another site and being temporarily out of $900 instead of $450.

I'm probably going to stick to moderate trails for the time being. I do want to upgrade to the latest year rubicon in a few years and get some good wheeling in

so far this is my shopping cart let me know what you guys think also, Teraflex 3 inch suspension lift with bilstein 5100 shocks [2.5 or 3.5 lift?] front and rear TF monster adjustable track bars, also debating between the bilstein monotube steering stabilizer or the TF steering stabilizer, front lower control arms and rear uppers, TF big brake kit, and Goodyear wrangler MT/R Tires with kevlar.
On another note what tire carriers would you recommend?

Looks like you have a plan Height is up to you but just remember, more height equals more potential issues. Rear uppers and track bar are not important at 2.5" of height,
SS-As far as the steering stab goes the stocker should do until it goes bad. Some aftermarket stabilizers push the jeep to the left. I have Rancho's newer 7000 SS and it does have a slight push. smaller, mounted up top of the tie rod but works really well.
SHOCKS- personal choice. The Bilstein's are popular. Rancho currently has a $100 rebate ending in June. Another great option. I know a lot of folks running TF coils and the 9000's. seems to be a great combo.
LCA's- The benefits of front lowers/caster is amazing. Def include those.
For carrier, I don't run one but many like the new TF carrier. I do as well but need to win the lottery first

Yeah, that TF tire carrier looks good. I use AEVs tire carrier but it is expensive, and actually very overpriced for what you get IMO....like all of AEV's stuff. The TF is great and there are several bumpers that you can also add a tire carrier too. Metalcloak's setup looks very interesting, though all are pricier than the TF option. I suspect Rancho and OME shocks will ride the best. I now know that OME shocks ride very well, and kjeeper has me convinced that Ranchos do too.

I think I may get the TF tire carrier idk which one to get because they offer a 200,480,690 priced ones and I can't tell what the differences with them, but only thing I'm concerned now is the shock situation because I decided on the 3 inch TF spring coil lift but I'm getting the bilstein 5100 but they offer only 2.5 and 3.5 lift with the shocks and I'm concerned with problems with up and down travel with the shocks I was thinking of going with the 3.5 to help with down travel since I plan on getting TF speed bumps to do speed dirt runs

I just wanna make sure I can get my castor and pinon angles right because I've seen some lifts installed and its a little off center hopefully the rear trackbar bracket should suffice included with the TF lift kit

2.5 in Rock Krawler X Factor / Toyo 35x12.50

Here is my Jeep with a 2.5 inch Rock Krawler X Factor on Toyo Open Country M/T tires. This lift is a complete suspension replacement and moves the rear axle back to center the tire in the wheel well and clear the pinch seam. It has excellent handling on and off road. Right now I have minor rubbing on rear fenders that need to be trimmed. I like the look this gives my Jeep with a bit lower center of gravity than the higher lifts.
