Running wires thru firewall

Is there any good spot to pass wires through the firewall? I just looked quickly, but didn't see much in the way of spots to get through to the drivers side dash. I prefer to use holes that are already there when possible.

There are several threads on this question, mostly dealing with lights and such.

The short answer to your question is yes, there is a spot in the upper left of the dash, that is pretty much only got a foam pad blocking the interior of the Jeep from the engine bay. It comes out below your master cylinder in the engine bay.

It's pretty easy to find, just shine a flashlight up under the dash in the upper left corner, it should be pretty easy to locate.

good luck

In the upper corner of the firewall on the driver's side (2013 JK Here) there is a rubber grommet that when removed gives you access into the dash. It's high up in the dash so to get down low enough inside the cab to catch the wires, I removed the guides off an old light fishing rod and use that to get from the outside into the cab. You have to hit it on a real steep angle, just shy of full 90 and twist it down. Tape your wires and pull them back through. After you're done, depending on the size and number of wires you ran, you can either slice and reinstall the grommet or leave it out for the next time.

Behind the insulation, behind the battery, comes out behind the glovebox. Feed through in a downward angle.

Open the passenger door and pop the panel on the side of your dash off. Look forward toward the firewall and there is a round hole filled with insulation. I used a coat hanger to start a hole and run the wires thru.

On my 2014 manual Sahara, this is where I fished mine through for the Apollointech SPOD knockoff.

All I did was unravel a wire coat hanger and then poke around until it appeared about halfway down on the driver's side. It did help to have my brother pull the hanger as I pushed the taped wires to the hanger through the hole.

THIS! Thank you! I have a manual as well and was at a complete loss how to get a wire through.

I took it one step further though. I tied a washer to the end of a fishing line and slowly lowered it into the hole. It fell straight to the driver's side footwell. Took less than a minute to run the wire. And to think of what I went through getting wires through the firewall of my wife's Jeep!

This is why I come to the forums. Thanks!
