Well, I was driving around this morning (58°) and I was darn cold. It's that time to put the doors and roof back on and prepare for old man winter's return. Summer is officially over.
Before:
Reassembled, washed, waxed and the interior's clean. Note to self....no more mudding with the roof and doors off. Mud and dust get EVERYWHERE.
My son caught the corner of the garage pulling it in, so that was my excuse to get a new bumper. You can still see a little rubbing on the front driver's fender. Couldn't get it all off. Winch will probably be a Christmas present to myself.
Did the same thing today. Took the soft top and half doors off for one last ride. Put the hard top and full doors back on. Also gave up my spot in the garage, so wifey's car can go back in. Can't wait for spring.
I put a new soft top on my Jeep today to replace one that tore. While the top was on it I put the doors on it and washed it... but when I go out its all coming apart again. I figure I still have a month or two of nice enough weather before she's wrapped up until spring.
Some northern areas have this. The ground can turn white suddenly and it actually gets colder than 35F. Populated by beings with large furry removable skins. Best to stay out of that area because they might be dangerous. They also have strange habits of celebrating when the plants begin to grow again, which is strange, for we know they grow all year around.
Yeah, yeah, all you Southern guys bragging. I get it. But I still need four seasons in my diet. I do actually like the snow. I've lived in northern Connecticut for 6 years, Denver for 10, and now Michigan for 10. And born and raised on Long Island. Even when I retire, I don't see myself in southern climes. Maybe Tennessee or Virginia, but no further south than that.
We've got another month or so in the Mid-Atlantic before the HT goes on. This is some of the best top-off weather all year. This is also one of the reasons I got seat heaters, not that they work for a damn. As much as I enjoy winter, snow in September should be illegal. That makes for a really long winter.
Like a couple of others I am waiting for it to cool off a bit more before the top and half doors come off and the bikini top goes on for the winter.:iamhappy:
I'm still debating when to put my HT back on. We have a fall color run next weekend and its supposed to be 70. Thats still top down in the northwoods for me. We also have a christmas lights/food drive and Toys for Tots ride in the first 2 weekends in December. We take the top off for the christmas ride and decorate the Jeeps. I have an ACE LAVA jacket for my wife and I if it gets too cool but the last 2 years it was not bad in the 30's.
It's finally cooling off enough where I can stand to be outside for awhile without feeling as though I walked through a wall of water.
Yesterday was in the low 90s with the humidity down to only about 40-50%. I'm hoping I can finally go out and put up my hoist, so that I can get naked.
Took the motorcycle out for almost a hundred miles yesterday, great weather.
I've lived in the great arctic north, I am done shoveling snow... never again. They tend to shut down the entire state if anything resembling winter precipitation is predicted
Keeping our soft top on for another two months or so. Gonna drag the Jeep down to SW Fla with the motor home in two weeks and plan to be running naked down there till the middle of November. Then when we come back it's hard top on, sprinklers blown out, motor home winterized snow blower prepped and hunker down for the winter.
Looking forward to winter here. If you can't do that, move to warmer climes. It is a great chance to drive the roads in 4WD and slide around the corners without getting the Jeep muddy.
Heated seats? Don't need no stinkin' heated seats. We have things called "winter coats" here. Google it.
One thing I don't like about the Jeep: you can't operate the inside door latches with gloves on; have to carry a hay hook in the door bin.
Part of me, coming from Chicago, totally understands your pain.
The other part, now that I live in Texas, is gloating and feels very please with myself and new location.
Haha ya, I'm pretty sure we will be top down & doors off well into December, or at least I will be unless the wife says otherwise lol
