Safari Straps Owners?

I have a question for the owners of Safari Straps. I have 2 labs, one is full grown, the other is maybe 50lbs now. I want to buy the safari straps warrior model (if i can get over the current wait time). My question is, on the back/top cover how big are the largest holes? It looks like the ones next to the gate are only 2x4inches. It looks like the larger ones, which are higher up on the back are 4x6inches.

If they are 4x6 they will probalby work, but if they are bigger than that, I'm going to have problems with the dogs sticking their heads through it.

Quick cell phone pic of mine and the flash washed the light but 5.75" x 4.5" is the biggest gap.

It looks like your question has been answered, but feel free to email the owners. Maral is very good at answering email. My 105lb mutt loves sticking his nose through the holes.

They have great hoodies as well!

You mentioned 5.75x4.5 is the largest one. Do they all measure the same? meaning are some 5.75, some 5.5, some 5? I'm curious to know the quality as well, and how they hold up? Can i throw these in the wash machine...lol?

I'm not sure why you would need to put them in a washing machine, but I guess you could. These are of the highest quality. All off the openings are completely uniform. Some sections are specifically designed with different sized holes.

i drive on gravel roads, with the top off, they get covered. Guess i can just hose them off, but the washing machine is easier and less time consuming for me.

I'm assuming the holes get bigger as you go up the back of the jeep for the warrior model? With the 5.75x4.5 holes, my pup would be able to fit his whole head/neck out the hole. With the holes at the bottom that look like the are 2x4, he would not be able to. Are there other sized holes? It would be great if the 5.75x4.5 are the holes that are up high enough that he cant get to them. Not sure how i feel about driving 55 to 60mph with his head hanging out the back.

He's out wheeling this week. This is not a mass produced item. Wait the week and get in touch. He can adjust the pattern to what you need. He'll get you what you need.
The straps are awesome and held all my junk in place when I rolled my jeep over.

Interesting, I did not know they could be customized. I wonder how small of holes i could go before it starts blocking my vision in the back. Does anyone have expeirence with how small is too small?

even the normal sized warrior straps degrade my rear view, but I also have the "dog" barrier up too behind the second row.

I am hoping in the fall they will consider a project adding protection over the rear half doors. I know there are not a lot of 2012 half doors out there -- but I am hoping they will have time to consider this after the busy season.

Theirs products really are top notch stuff!

I'm willing to bet that they would make you a custom set for the half door.

Here is a build thread that has a custom set made for half doors.

after looking at pictures closer, it appears ill need a back tailgate bar. Do these fit on with the freedom hardtop? Is there a certain brand i need to buy so the clamps they sell fit it or do you buy clamps for the tailgate bars to match the one you have?

I don't have the back tailgate bar (not even sure what that is... I took off my OEM soft top, so it might have been part of that, but doubt it) and had no idea how to secure the two, rear inside straps... I had some strong, black elastic bands and just rigged it up to that. I'll snap a pic later.

it does require the bar to fully extend to the tailgate, otherwise you can let it hang in the back with either the soft top or hardtop on....or devise some other solution as noted.

That's exactly what I am in the market for, but according to Maral there, it's not something they can do until "the off season, which is around October/November."

Something to look forward to. Especially if they don't have to re-invent the wheel.

I run like that a lot with my half doors. I'd never thought about doing that but like the idea. Are you going to have them make a single piece or just something to go between the b pillar and existing side window nets?

safari straps emailed me back over the weekend (very nice of them to work on a weekend). The bad news is that they said there can indeed be up to a 12 week wait right now and all of their distributors are sold out. This was something i was hoping to get in the next few weeks to enjoy over the summer. Now I'm not sure what I'll do...maybe make my own (have no clue how to do this) or look into another brand.

I bought the Smittybuilt CRS net for the back. I really want the safari straps but at 12 weeks I think I'll use the ones I bought for now. I haven't put them on yet because I'm waiting for my NX top I ordered from jeepaddons.com that still has not arrived. Neve order from them again 😰

You should have waited for the Safari Straps. Guy in our club has the Smittybilt ones and they are more show than anything else. Nothing compared my my Safari Straps.

They did some prototypes for some guy in another forum (I have it saved on my computer at home). I would pretty much go with whatever they suggest, haha.

I run Safari Straps and love them, but if you cannot wait the 12 weeks, Dirty Dog 4x4 also manufactures them with comparable quality...and in different colors i believe.
